O2 UK to Allow iPhone Unlocks From Tomorrow

In an interview held today, A representative of O2 UK has revealed that O2 will allow its customers to unlock their iPhone’s once other carriers starts offering them. Since Orange will start offering iPhone 3GS from tomorrow, its pretty clear that starting on 10th November i.e. tomorrow, O2 will allow its users to unlock their iPhone’s so that they can use it with any carrier. However the customers will have to abide by their existing contract with O2 if any.

The iPhone Dev-Team has finally released a proper working patch which fixes carrier name or logo on unlocked iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. If you jailbreaked your iPhone with PwnageTool 3.1.4 and then later unlocked it with ultrasn0w, then you must have noticed that the carrier name or logo on the top left side of the status bar was missing. This was caused due to a known bug in ultrasn0w and was purely cosmetic, which means that your phone continued to work even without the carrier logo in place. We earlier wrote about a fix for this bug but it was more of a workaround than a proper fix. But today, Dev-Team has released ultrasn0w 0.92 which fixes this issue. Follow the steps below to upgrade your phone to the latest version of ultrasn0w.

The popular iPhone hacker Geohot has finally released the much awaited blackra1n RC3 with blacksn0w which unlocks both iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS running on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware with 05.11.07 baseband (aka modem firmware). The popular iPhone hacker George Hotz (@geohot) has released a teaser image, hence giving us a first sneak peak at how the upcoming blackra1n RC3 with blacksn0w is going to look like, come November 4th. For those of you who don't know, blackra1n is a jailbreaking tool which can unlock all iPhone’s (2G, 3G and 3GS) and iPod touches (2G, 3G) running the latest iPhone firmware 3.1.2. He has finally managed to successfully unlock iPhone firmware 3.1.2 on 05.11.07 baseband (modem firmware) using his tool dubbed as blacksn0w. blacksn0w will be an integral part of the upcoming version of blackra1n which will be released on 4th November 2009 and it will work on both the iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS with 05.11.07 baseband.

iTunes 9.0.2 is out! Apple has announced the availability of iTunes 9.0.2 for both Windows and Mac. The most significant change that iTunes 9.0.2 brings is the added support for the new Apple TV software version 3.0. Battery Percentage meter option is officially available on iPhone 3GS only running firmware 3.0 and above; however, there is a small tweak available in Cydia which can enable this functionality natively on the original iPhone and iPhone 3G running firmware 3.0 and above. You will need to have a jailbroken iPhone for this to work.
