Apple today has released iOS 4.0.1 to fix the much talked about iPhone 4 reception issue which has been plaguing users since its launch last month. Apart from this fix, nothing much has been added and so if you are an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G user, and you rely on a jailbreak and unlock, it is better to avoid this upgrade until new jailbreak and unlock tools are available. Comex – the guy behind Spirit jailbreak tool for iPad and iPhone / iPod touch is expected to release an update to Spirit, which will jailbreak iOS based devices on the latest firmware.
iOS 4.1 Beta was seeded to developers yesterday. Since the iOS 4.1 is currently only jailbreakable on iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non-MC model), you may want to downgrade your other iOS based devices from iOS 4.1 so that you can jailbreak them on iOS 4, or iOS 3.1.3 / 3.1.2 (formerly iPhone 3.1.3 or 3.1.2).
The following step by step guide will help you rollback / downgrade to iOS 4, iPhone 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 from iOS 4.1 Beta as long as you have SHSH blobs saved for the respective firmwares for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touches.
This is just in! Apple has remained quiet on all the iPhone 4 issues that we have been hearing about. We all knew that they will have to do something.. and that too quick! And now according to The Loop, Apple has invited selected press to hold a special press conference where they will be talking about iPhone 4.
The first Beta of iOS 4.1 has been released, and the good news is that Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 for both Windows and Mac is compatible with this version of iOS. Simply download the required iOS 4.1 firmware file for iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) and use Redsn0w to jailbreak it. This version of Redsn0w of course will work only on iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) only.
Yes you read that right ! The newly released iOS 4.1 is jailbreakable using Redsn0w 0.9.5b5. All you need is the latest iOS 4.1 firmware for iPhone 3G or iPod touch 2G (non-MC Models) and you can jailbreak it using Redsn0w on Windows and Mac. Again, this is strictly for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non-MC models) only. If your iPhone 3G relies on an unlock, you MUST STAY AWAY from iOS 4.1 for now.
There is no question about Windows Vista being a PR failure for Microsoft. But so is iPhone 4 turning out to be one for Apple. Speaking at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference, the Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft Kevin Turner called iPhone 4 a Windows Vista of Apple. "It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I'm okay with that.”, said Turner in his keynote address on Windows Phone 7 at Microsoft WPC. He further added:
iOS 4.1 has just been released by Apple for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd and 3rd gen. Those of you who currently rely on an unlock MUST STAY from iOS 4.1 until any further notice. Updating to iOS 4.1 might result in update of baseband, which will potentially lock your phone. You wont be able to unlock it until a new exploit is found again.
Gizmodo has received a report from one of their reader who claims to have got a slightly different iPhone 4 from Apple which doesn't seem to drop calls, and is free from proximity sensor issue. Full report is as follows.
Finally! After weeks of hard work, MuscleNerd and PlanetBeing (of Android port for iPhone fame) of the iPhone Dev Team has managed to unlock the new iPhone 4 running on iOS 4. For those of you who don’t know, carrier unlock for US iPhone 4s on AT&T required complete rewrite of ultrasn0w software because of the new baseband OS in iPhone 4.
