With likes of Sony and Samsung having revealed their latest and greatest devices at MWC last week, it will soon be the turn of Taiwanese outfit HTC to showcase its eagerly-awaited successor to the critically-acclaimed 2013 release of the One. Thanks to numerous leaks, we already know most of the key details of the device, known technically as the 'HTC M8', including its stronger processor, larger display and two rear-facing cameras, but with the unveiling set for March 25th, we're going to be waiting a good few weeks beyond that for its release. If patience isn't your forte, perhaps you might be interested in yet another nifty bit of fakery from resident knockoffer Goophone, which has come through a respectable clone of the as-yet unannounced handset. Check it out after the break!

We seem, as people, to have developed something of an obsession with coffee. In many countries - particularly the United States and the UK - the likes of Starbucks and Caffé Nero swarm our town centers and shopping malls, and as a result, many of us cannot get through the day without a frappé coffee, mocha or espresso. A lot of the time, we're simply chasing that caffeine pick-me-up, and while it can work miracles in the mornings, when trying to get some sleep later on in the day, having too much of the stuff in our systems is never fun. With this in mind, Jawbone has come up with an interesting app that not only keeps track of how much caffeine we're getting, but also, rather accurately, speculates on when we'll be finally able to get some shut-eye.
With the imminent release of Titanfall, it's rather easy to forget that, in actual fact, there are some other pretty big titles hitting the gaming world in 2014. With two brand new consoles on the scene in the form of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, developers and publishers are doing their utmost to prepare us for some marquee releases, and Watch Dogs, which has just become available to pre-order, will hit shelves on May 27th. Further details, as well as the official trailer accompanying the announcement, can be seen below.
One of our favorite scanning apps for iOS has just gone completely free, down from its usual price of $1.99. With the latest update also bringing some interface tweaks in-keeping with the flatter look of iOS 7, it's arguably the complete package, and if you've been looking for a simple, convenient and functional way to scan your documents in using your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, then it's your lucky day!
I'm not sure whether it's down to the fact that Apple decided to make some significant visual alterations with iOS 7, or just the fact that the jailbreak community has continued to grow at an incredible rate, but there's definitely been a noticeable spike in the volume of new tweaks and themes added to Cydia following the universal Evasi0n jailbreak for iOS 7. Not that we're complaining, though, and having recently been impressed by the simplicity of Surenix's Ayeris theme for both iPhone and iPad, the Eli7e theme offers its own unique, polished take on how Apple's mobile OS should look. Microsoft's DirectX programming API may, at times, have drawn criticism from the likes of AMD, but in a new announcement of DirectX 12, the software giant has outlined its intention to continue developing and improving it. The Windows maker has begun sending out invitations for the official unveiling of DirectX 12 at the Games Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, which kicks off on March 20th.
If you're a big gaming fan, then there's no chance you've missed the incessant coverage and build up to next week's release of Titanfall. The title, which roll out exclusively to those on Xbox and PC, is easily the biggest game to drop so far this year, and with just a few days to go before the show begins, its creators are looking to ramp up interest with a series of 8-bit, Titanfall-themed titles based on some old classics. The first installment of the Titanfall Arcade, based on Asteroids, is already available to play on the Web, and with the next two arcade releases based upon Mission Command and Centipede, this is a truly nostalgia-inducing, old-meets-new affair.
Although both Sony and Samsung managed to keep the pre-announcement sightings of their respective flagships down to a minimum, the same cannot be said of HTC, which, after an abundance of leaks, yesterday got a 12 minute-long hands-on demo from an unofficial source. Still, as techies, we're delighted that the Taiwanese company is struggling to keep its next big thing under wraps, and today, as well as more photos of the device, we've also got some benchmark figures.
The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), which recently struck a deal with Apple to begin the production of some of its device's hardware components, has reportedly gotten to work on the new A8 processing chip, which will power the upcoming iPhone 6 later on this year. The report, which has arrived courtesy of the Commercial Times in Taiwan, notes that the A8 SoC began production last month, and although we'd expect it to serve as the workhorse of the next Apple smartphone, it's also reasonable to speculate that the iPad range could also benefit from the upgraded chip at some point this fall.
A particularly captivating, futuristic iOS 8 concept, which we first caught a glimpse of late last month, sought to combine elements of the Control Center and new multitasking view of to create an entirely new, effortlessly functional interface. Some concepts are unattainable and / or just plain unrealistic, but, reading between the lines, this particular concept made perfect sense - combining two features into one for ease-of-access. Naturally, with the jailbreak scene currently thriving, one developer sought to turn this most plausible of designs into a genuine reality, and having announced the Vertex tweak only a couple of days back, it has been completed, packaged up, and is ready for prime time.
