Microsoft’s Xbox One console is just a few days away from public availability, and the company is bound to make it a success by any means necessary. As if all the promotions and advertisements weren’t enough, now the Redmond company has made a new announcement of free access to select few Xbox One titles on a monthly basis for the subscribers of Xbox LIVE Gold.

Google is, beyond question, the most powerful and widely used search engine today, with the scope of its services expanding almost every passing moment. The stock Android, or any variant based on the Android Open Source Project, promises to deliver as vanilla a Google experience as possible, and one of the key elements of that experience is bundled Google Search almost throughout the operating system. With Google Now, this goes a notch further, where you can simply say “Ok Google” to initiate a new search, thanks to Google’s voice recognition engine.
As soon as Android 4.4 KitKat was formally announced, it was certain that the newer Nexus devices will definitely be getting the new version of the operation system. Nexus 4, the one year old Nexus flagship that is still plenty powerful, obviously made the cut, but it didn’t get an OTA update for the latest Android version as soon as it surfaced on Nexus 5. All we kept hearing was “a few weeks” without any definitive availability date. Well, we guess it’s pretty close now, as Google has posted the factory images for Android 4.4 KitKat for the Nexus 4 on its developer portal.
One of the most anticipated app releases for any platform is finally here. The social magazine app, Flipboard, that made headlines over the iPad, then iPhone and then Android, has finally made its way to Microsoft’s latest desktop computing platform, Windows.
Google Glass has been a revolutionary product in many ways, but with certain limitations. The high price point has yet kept it out of general consumer reach, but aside from that, another major contributor to this was the fact that developers didn’t really have a lot of options to expand the capabilities of the new hardware. In fact, all that they had access to was the standard Android SDK for testing and playing, which was far insufficient. Now, starting November 19, Google is hosting a hackathon where the Glassware Development Kit (GDK) will be made available to developers, as outlined in an invite sent out by Google for developers.
A large proportion of road accidents can be attributed to texting and driving, which, as attractive as it can be for long drives, can lead to serious consequences. When Google bought Motorola Mobility, it was an obvious attempt to not only revive the company’s business, but for Google to enter the hardware manufacturing business itself. Ironically, since then, none of the Nexus devices have been Motorola branded, but that nowhere means that the company’s smartphone making spirit has dampened. If anything, we now have confirmation that not only is Moto G, the low-end sibling to the mighty and powerful Moto X, is very real, but it’s very soon to be announced, as a new sign-up page put by the company clearly shows that the new device is being announced on November 13, 2013.
Whenever a new device from Apple enters the market, it’s bound to make a splash, usually a pretty significant one. Based on my personal experience and subsequent opinion, most of Apple’s hardware and software have all the reason for being like this. They offer great usability, can serve for both entertainment and productivity, are durable, and generally offer good value for money. The iPad Air that was unveiled just last month has been no exception, and it seems we have one more reason to love the device. It carries an awesome battery with almost unparalleled battery life, as a recent experiment has shown.
The wait is coming to a close, as the teaser tweet from Nokia USA aims to tout. The US division of the Finnish company tweeted a teaser image showing off two Lumia 1020 devices; one from the back with the impressive 41-megapixel PureView camera in all its glory, while the other showing the same device running - you guessed it - Instagram for Windows Phone!
