Apple’s next-gen Siri with Apple Intelligence might be delayed, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Apple is facing software bugs and engineering issues that could push back the launch.
Initially, Apple planned to roll out the new Siri features in iOS 18.4. However, with the first iOS 18.4 beta expected next week, it seems Siri won’t be ready in time.
Apple has already announced that Apple Intelligence will support more languages in April, hinting at the iOS 18.4 release timeline. That means Apple has little time to finalize Siri’s upgrades, and some features may be pushed to iOS 18.5, likely in May.
Apple has promised three big AI-powered Siri features: better understanding of personal context, improved app integration, and on-screen awareness to interact with what’s on your display. However, employees testing Siri report that these features are still inconsistent.
Major iOS updates typically don’t happen as late as May, since Apple shifts focus to the next iOS version in June after WWDC. Gurman suggests that Apple might still include Siri’s new capabilities in iOS 18.4 but keep them disabled until further testing is done in iOS 18.5.
We should see the first iOS 18.4 beta soon, but don’t expect the revamped Siri to be fully functional just yet.
