Apple’s Making The iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max Bigger To House Major New Camera Upgrades

Recent rumors suggest that Apple is going to increase the display size of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in 2024 and now a new report claims to know why that will be.

That report comes via a Chinese social media account on Weibo which MacRumors reports claims to have inside information on Apple’s plans.

Corroborating several other reports that next year’s ‌iPhone 16‌ Pro models will feature larger displays, the individual claims that the increased size of the devices will provide more internal space for components including a periscope telephoto camera system.

This backs up a previous report which suggested that Apple would be putting a better camera into the new phones or perhaps an upgraded battery. Not, it appears that it’s the former that will explain away the new, larger models.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to be the first one to benefit from a periscope camera of course, but it will not be available on the iPhone 15 Pro. With next year’s iPhone 16 models, however, that’s thought to be changing — the iPhone 16 Pro will also get the periscope camera for improved zoom capabilities.

As for the iPhone 15 lineup, that’s expected to be announced during an event this September with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max also getting a new titanium construction and the removal of the mute button. In its place, an Apple Watch Ultra-like Action button is expected to debut.
