Apple Watch Ultra 2: Features, Price, Release Date Announced

After all the rumors Apple has now officially unveiled the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and here are all the important details.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 was announced alongside the Apple Watch Series 9, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Pro series of devices and is perhaps the smallest update of all.

That doesn’t mean that there aren’t noteworthy improvements, however, because there definitely are.

Those improvements begin with the new Apple-designed S9 chip that boasts improved performance and a 4-core Neural Engine. That allows Siri to run on-device for the first time, while Apple says it also powers a new Double Tap gesture.

A tap of the finger and thumb is now all that’s needed to interact with the Apple Watch, making one-handed use of a wearable possible for the first time.

With a new double tap gesture, users can easily control Apple Watch Ultra 2 using just one hand and without touching the display. Users can tap the index finger and thumb of their watch hand together twice to quickly and conveniently perform many of the most common actions on Apple Watch Ultra 2. Double tap will also open the Smart Stack from the watch face, and another double tap will scroll through widgets in the stack.

Apple has also given the Apple Watch Ultra 2 an improved display that now has a maximum brightness of 3000 nits, a 50% increase over the previous model. That will make the display even easier to read in bright sunlight.

The new Apple Watch Ultra 2 comes in the same 49mm case size and will cost $799 when it goes on sale on September 22.
