The latest reports online suggest that Apple may be set to bring the iPad 3 to certain parts of Europe on March 23rd, though no information was given as to other territories, including the United States.
We’ve said it before and we’ll continue to state it each and every time it happens, but here we are with yet another iPad rumor that may or may not be true. In fact, the truth is that this one is even flakier than usual but seeing as everyone is certainly in iPad 3 mode these days, we’re going to go ahead and publish it in the interest of fun!
Everyone, including the Redmond Pie team, is pretty much in agreement these days that Apple is probably going to be announcing the third-generation iPad sooner rather than later. In fact, the smart money is on an announcement coming some time in March, which means in a few weeks we could finally be able to put these iPad 3 rumors to bed. You know, just in time for the iPhone 5 rumor mill to kick into full swing…
The latest potential news comes courtesy of German site iFun.de, who claim to have the scoop on the release date for Apple’s latest and greatest tablet – at least in Europe, anyway.
Our German brethren believe that the iPad 3 will go on sale on March 23rd in their country, though the site does not go on to mention release days elsewhere. We have heard reports previously that the iPad 3 will go on sale in the United States towards the end of March with a European release a matter of weeks later. This approach has been taken by Apple in the past due to issues keeping up with demand, with the Cupertino firm deciding to ensure US-based punters can buy the new tablet with more stock on hand, rather than everywhere being short on stock because of a larger rollout. Staggering a release this time around would make sense for similar reasons.
What the whole thing does show though is that these rumors will not die until we get an official invite to a press event form Apple’s PR people. Until then it really is open season on iPad 3 rumors, and with the hardware itself all but locked down thanks to various leaks recently, the release date is really the only variable left.
It almost takes the fun out of it, doesn’t it?
