Apple has begun notifying users that they are running out of time to get hold of a free year of Apple TV+. Anyone buying a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or iPod touch receives a free year of service. But it appears you only get 90 days to do so.
That’s a message that Apple has now started to communicate to owners of devices that are still eligible for a free year but have yet to take Apple up on the offer.
Once that free year comes to a close, users will automatically be signed up for Apple TV+ at $4.99 per month, something Apple is presumably keen to increase the numbers for.
Apple TV+ went live on November 1 2019 just over a month after Apple launched the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. It’s likely there are millions of iPhone owners out there who have yet to sign up for their free year of Apple TV+ and Apple will be sending them all notifications – and reportedly, emails – telling them that they’re running out of time.
If you haven’t yet signed up for Apple TV+, you really ought to consider doing so. Even at $4.99 per month it’s worth it, although it’s true that more content is needed in the long run.
There are enough shows to keep most people entertained for a good while right now, however, with more also in the works. Apple has spent billions of dollars to make Apple TV+ work and despite the lack of any third-party content, it’s still looking like a good bet at $4.99.
It’s an even better bet if you can get it or free, though!
