Apple CEO Tim Cook Says He Has Never Spoken To Elon Musk But He Does Admire Tesla

Apple CEO Tim Cook says that he has never spoken to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, but he did admit that he has admiration for the company and its lead in electric vehicles.

Cook was speaking on the Sway podcast with topics of discussion covering all kinds of things, including the current lawsuit situation with Epic Games.

There was also discussion about Musk’s claims that he tried to sell Tesla to Apple years ago, but that Cook wouldn’t take the meeting. It seems part of that, at least, was true. Cook has never spoken with Musk.

You know I’ve never spoken to Elon, although I have great admiration and respect for the company he has built. I think Tesla has done an unbelievable job of not only establishing the lead but keeping the lead for such a long period of time in the EV space. So I have great appreciation for them.

Apple is heavily rumored to be getting ready to enter the electric vehicle market at some point in the future via its Project Titan program. If and when that does happen it’s inevitable that Apple and Tesla will become competitors.

That isn’t going to happen any time soon, however, with Apple Car unlikely to be ready for streets until 2025 at the earliest with some suggesting it could be even longer than that.
