Apple And Burberry Launch R Message App To Help Stores To DM Clients

Apple and Burberry have teamed up to create a new service called R Message. The service will be part of the Burberry iOS app and will allow retail associates to directly message their clients. It’s also going to be part of a pilot program before rolling out to all Burberry stores and it will also be available via invitation only.

Burberry stores currently use an internal app called R World to manage inventory. The new R Message will take Burberry’s own internal system and then connect it to the Burberry app that customers can download from the App Store. They’ll then also be able to make in-store appointments and receive personalized recommendations based on their past purchases, according to a report by Vogue Business. As you might expect, the service will also allow users to buy Burberry products using Apple Pay, although other payment methods will be available.

The new R Message service will debut at the company’s flagship store in Manchester, England.

This new service is clearly bespoke to Burberry, but it’s clear that there is scope for similar deals to be struck with other retail outlets and companies. While Burberry and Apple already have a long working relationship, the retailer isn’t the only one able to boast that.

Apple does have a lot on its plate right now, however. The 2019 iPhone lineup is just days away from being announced and plenty more is expected to be shown off before the end of the year.
