Apple’s 20th Anniversary iPhone Might Not Have Its Rumored All-Screen Design

Rumors have been abound that Apple plans to celebrate the iPhone’s 20th anniversary with a new, all-screen model. But a new report suggests that might not be the case after all.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has been suggesting that a new iPhone that pushes the display over the edges of the iPhone will be used to mark the occasion for some time.

The device would have no cutouts in the display to house the Face ID and front-facing camera technology. But now former display analyst Ross Young may have poured cold water on that idea.

Writing in a series of posts on the X social network, Young said that he now expects the 2028 iPhone Pro models to have a single centered hole for the camera rather than an all-screen display. However, it’s important to remember that such a device is still some way off, and Apple is likely testing multiple designs before settling on the final one.

That alone means that it’s difficult to predict what Apple will launch when 2028 comes around, while even Apple may not have settled on a solution.

One thing is clear, though, and that’s the fact that Apple is working on a new iPhone design that will change the way the current Dynamic Island looks.

Expectations continue to suggest that Apple will remove the need for a cutout for the Face ID technology, moving it beneath the display for the first time.
