2019 iPhone 11 Could Be Named iPhone Pro

While we know quite a bit about what the 2019 iPhones will look like and what they will be capable of, we don’t yet know what the naming scheme will be for them. There’s a chance that we could see an iPhone Pro for the first time, but we wouldn’t want to bet on it.

The whole suggestion of a new iPhone Pro comes via a Twitter user who has form for being able to predict iPhones before they are announced.

User CoinX previously came up with iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR weights, asymmetric grills, and even their wallpapers the week before they were announced. That doesn’t mean that he’s guaranteed to be in the know, not by any stretch, but he does clearly have connections.

This year he hasn’t actually said that an iPhone Pro is on its way. Instead, he muses that the iPhone Pro might be an interesting name for a phone. Whether he’s making the mild suggestion as a way of hedging his bets if the prediction is wrong remains to be seen, though.

The potential for an iPhone Pro is clear, however. Apple could offer the iPhone as a replacement for the iPhone XR, while the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max could carry the Pro name. The two sizes could be denoted as part of the name similarly to how the 11-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro are named.

We aren’t too far away from starting to hear concrete leaks ahead of the big September announcement, either. We’d expect questions to be answered in the coming weeks.
