I already restored and jailbroke my 3GS (New boot model), and I have to say. I don't miss the Connect to iTunes screen.

FYI: Jailbreak must be done in normal mode, not DFU mode, coz Spirit couldn't detect the device type when in DFU.
I've been trying to rejailbreak my iPod Touch 3Gen 8GB MC model (had been jailbreaked with blackra1nRC2) so it can be untethered..

I had exactly the same problem with my desktop mac, moved to the laptop; installed spirit and it worked fine. Try another machine?

If you get an Ordinal Error 2760 “libeay32.dll” error when executing Spirit.exe then do the following:
1. rename or delete the “libay32.dll” file in c:windowssystem32 directory.
2. copy the “libeay32.dll” file from the C:Program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device Support to the c:windowssystem32 directory
This is an iTunes error not a Spirit error

Spirit load screen for 20 mins, finally i restarted it. Now stuck at Apple logo screen and cannot get it into restore mode. Guess thats what I get for using software other than GeoHot's, someone who actually knows what their doing.

If you're on vista, Right click Spirit -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Run Compatibility Mode -> Choose Windows 98/ME. If it still doesn't work, same procedure, but run in Admin mode . Should work then. The instructions are also found up there on some links.

OK I have a 3GS with 3.1.3, I ran Spirit for pc on Win7, It says jailbreak successful then quit. The Iphone itself proceeds to reboot then load a purpleish hazy screen. what i noticed is the wheel in the middle starts spinning before the line is completed. then it starts up again. It is time that reports should mention that reboot sequence can be from seconds to 20 minutes as found on my own device, and being reported left and right on the net.
Thus the tutorials are in an early stage, hope to see it mentionned somewhere that users need to wait till the iPhone reboots, surpassing the Apple logo.
There might also be big differences in boot sequence / timing from one kind of device towards another. tell me I am wrong if so

The file when @ 99% downloaded, stops and my antivirus software tells me there is a TR/Dropper.Gen trojan in the file.

Stop giving us Jailbreaking tools for the 3.1.3 and give us unlocking tools!!!!! (05.12.01) or even, an update from Fuzzyband for the 06.02 / 06.04 bootload.

I had no problem jailbreaking my iphone 3Gs 3.1.3 but after I installed winterboard through Cydia and rebooted, a majority of my icons disappeared including Cydia and settings. I can still open them, but I have to use the iPhone search feature. Can someone tell me how to get my icons back?

It came with 3.1.2, I upgraded to 3.1.3 and ran it under windows 98 being that i have windows 7, (important instruction=lack of errs) I haven't tried the iPad yet, but remember to run as administrator mode and thats pretty much it. Hope all works well

THANKKKKK YOUU omg!! I have waited an entire two weeks of agonizing torture for this to come out! When I saw Cydia on my Iphone I actually shed some tears!!

On Windows 7 x64, I had to copy the libeay32.dll file to c:windowssyswow64, NOT c:windowssystem32. The jailbreak was then successful.

1His_Nibs1: when ever you see “gen, or generic” in a virus/trojan type it means your antivirus thinks the program in question uses suspicious tactics or processes. your antivirus is predicting what a program does and warns you. this is usually a false positive, and your antivirus needs to be off before you can run it.

Nice, JB worked with 3GS / 3.1.3 on 05.12.01 baseband as well!!! Awesome. Then search for MyWi app on Cydia and now Internet tethering works too, almost 3 Mbit down. Phone is still sim-locked but who cares.

I jail broke my phone with the Sprint Jailbreak and everything works EXCEPT now when I connect the iphone to iTunes, iTunes will freeze and the program will close. When I disconnect the iPhone, then iTunes works fine.

Correction. 3.1.3 has been jailbroken for iphone 3gs (all). There is currently no public unlock for baseband 5.12.01. The unlock most likely won't be released until apple released iphone OS 4.0.

you have to download the apps as .ipa files from other sites and then add them to itunes.
you cant just buy from itunes and expect it to bypass the payment process from youre credit card, lol that would be cool tho, but would probably be a even more illegal.

You can't just use the normal appstore, you have to go to cydia…download installous…and download the same apps from the app store but from installous

cuz ur a noob nd u need to add the repository cydia.hackulo.us/ in cydia and then install installous

cuz u have no idea what ur doing jailbreaking is too easy now any idiot can do it

windows 7: right click on spirit.exe -> properties then -> compatibility tab click 'run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 98 / Windows Me' and then run as admin

I had the same problem. I actully was on my way to the apple store the see if they could reboot my iphone, but then something in my head told me to reconnect the phone and jailbreak agin(repeat the process) immediatelty within 2 minutes my pohone icons reappeared and Cydia appeard. All is fine now and Im looking for a way to find an application that il alow me to tether. if anyone can help let me know. Hope this helps

I had the same problems as mentioned.
Don't update cydia if you are on the new bootrom!
The app won't work if you do.
The apple screen… just give it 5min and it will eventually rebot.

FYI: if you have the “eternal bootscreen” issue after JBing ur iTouch with Spirit on a Windows machine: restore to factory default through ITunes and find someone with an Mac OSX machine.

I tried using spirit 2x on a Win7 machine and both resulted in everlasting bootscreens. 3rd time i tried using my Mac and it worked at once and my iTouch rebooted in < 20 sec.

Spirit works on my phone with no problems. I was running iPhone OS 3.1.2 jailbroken with blackra1n. Upgraded phone using iTunes to 3.1.3. Used Spirit to jailbreak 3.1.3 with no problem. Running 5.12.01 modem firmware. Computer used for update is a Dell XPS 420 running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and iTunes 9.1.0.79. The process took less than a minute.

If you follow the directions exactly (like I did on the second try) It was so easy.

that happened to me too. when my “bar” fully loaded, it asks for you to enter the pass-code, but there should be a new app called cydia, which signifies the jailbreak. email me if u need anything else.

Spirit works! after spending hours with snowbreeze, it was so frustrated! Spirit is fast! if you have problem while you install or dl spirit, try reboot or even restore your phone first before using Spirit.

after that press download anyways (or somethin like that), and then when its done, go into packages in the same tab, and tap on hackulo.us, then scroll down to installous. tap it, then tap install at the top right. once thats installed you can get almost any app for free. the shortcut is on your dock.

You'll need to install AppSync in order to install cracked apps!

Just add the repo cydia.hackulo.us , and install AppSync.

Had a problem running Spirit on my new Acer…. didn't want to work and kept giving me an error code – switched to my 7 year old laptop running XP and everything worked great, took less than 30 seconds to get this done

This was pretty useful, I thought it didnt do any thing when i clicked jailbreak because about half a second later it said jailbreak complete and my ipod touch 2g rebooted and it was done. It was all done under 30 seconds!!!

a jailbreak doesn't give you illegal rights to anything on iTunes, it just lets you download programs, themes, sounds, etc. that other people have created. no Apple apps or songs, sorry =/

this has stopped my iphone working in ipod mode…. it will play one song and then the ipod crashes.. also itunes flips out about recognising it to sync music i have to repeatedly connect it untill it stops saying there is an error finding my iphone…. when it does finally work it takes 10 times as long to sync and still comes up with a fault.

I have a question regarding Jailbreaking so appologies if I seem a noob with this one. I've always had Windows Mobiles and this is my first apple device so I took the plunge to unlock it with Spirit, went without a hitch and im very pleased with the result but….
I'm under the impression that IPhone 4 software will be available at some point for all the 3gs phones as an update via ITunes, what will happen when it updates? Will it brick the phone or would it be best to restore back to factory default before updating?

Alright so first off do not updateeeeeeeee until you know for a fact that the jailbreak is out, second off no your device will not brick, you do not need to worry about anything such is being messed up, its not until you restore it yourself that anything changes so just wait once the iphone 4 software comes out theyll start working on a jailbreak for it

I accidentaly updated from a jailbroken 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 and after trying to jailbreak again I am now stuck on the emergency call only screen or I am being asked for my original sim (which i don't have). I have tried snowbreeze and I keep getting a 16XX error message. I have also tried installing the 3.1.2 firmware again with the hope to use blackrain again, but I am also getting error messages and can't install 3.1.2 either. Is there anything that I can do?

Does it work with ios4, too?

Hold Home button and Shut Down button at the same time until it blinks and shows the apple logo, when it does immediately let go of shut down button and stay holding the home button, it should then tell you to connect your usb (it maybe be already connected just disconnect and re-connect the usb) then itunes would regonize it, and would tell you to restore it.

PS: I know this because yesterday i struggled with so many problems my iPod started giving me, it took me 9 hours today to get everything back & running.

why not upgrade my iphone first into 3.1.3 using the latest itunes 9.2 which gave me an unlocked iphone 3.1.3 and then i used SPIRIT for jailbreaking instead of using snowbreeze 1.5

I jailbroke an iphone 3.1.3 witrh Spirit and unlocked it with blacksn0w. Now the apple logo will not go away. I have done a soft reset and have also tried putting the phone into recovery mode but it's not going into recovery mode. It's been an hour and I only see the apple logo. Plz help!

jailbreak allows you to download 3rd party app such as cydia etc.
unlock allows iphones to run with other carrier i.e. tmobile

can't you unlock if with d new ultrasn0w? PP 0.93 !. unlocks all basebands……….. inculding 5.12.01!

jailbreak your phone means you can download third party apps/function on your phone from cydia… unlocking your phone means you can use a T-Mobile sim card, put it in your iphone and use t-mobile service.. cool right

it does not work with os4 anything…yet. you'll just have to wait for the creator/creators to upgrade, or come up with something new. as far as i know, there are no good jailbreaks for iOS4. i know that because i recently upgraded my spirit jb'd ipod 2G 3.1.3 firmware to ios4, having no idea that i'd lose cydia and have it restored to it's normal self. apple with iOS4. it's not standing up to all the hype it's gotten. but if anyone knows of any good jailbreaks for ipod 2G 4.0 firmware, please let me know. i'm sick of apples stock firmware.

Bought a used iphone 3gs. Has old bootrom 3.59. It is upgraded to ios 4. I do not believe it has been jailbroken or unlocked in the past. I do not have SHSH files. can anybody help me? my phone was jailbroken by the spirit jailbreak and i accidently allowed my phone to be updated to the 4.0 version y doing so i losed my jailbreak, my cydia, and now all the apps i attained through my jailbreak no longer work yet they remain on my iphone.. how can i solve this and is it possible to retain my jailbreak or must i wait for a new jailbreak?

u were on a tethered jailbreak before werent u..?

u need to restore and jailbreak it again make sure itunes does not install the new version to your iphone or ipod touch…

You have to downgrade to 3.1.3 if you have a 3gs or you can jb your IOS4 using redsnow

use cydia and find and add the url for an app called instoulous or somthing like that ( i spelled it wrong btw) go on the web and find urls to add on cydia for installous cause that app is for downloading paid apps 4 free

i'm running windows vista. i tried to download, took like 6 tries. finally downloaded it, tried to run it, and it said “The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. choose close to terminate the application” but it closes either way no matter if i choose to click close, or ignore. looking at the comments, i don't see anyone else who encountered this problem. is this a vista only thing? i've tried it as normal, in compatibility mode for windows 98, and compatibility mode for windows XP service pack 2, and i always run it as an administrator. every time it gives the same error. does anybody please have any ideas that might help me?

after jailbreaking ipod touch 3g running 3.1.3, it gave the icon for cydia. but whenever i try to load cydia, it exits out to the lock screen, and i have to enter my pass, despite it not being my 5 minutes like i set (it closely resembles a respring). how should i fix cydia?

I have a unlocked 3gs, I think it is old romroot because its model number doesn't start MC (A1303). I don't know which firmware it was but I accdiently upgraded to 4.01 and now it is stalked on emergency call screen due to no valid sim card.

I have an iPhone 3G which I upgraded to IOS 4 . It was so dog slow after that I downgraded back to 3.1.3 , but my modem firmware is still on the higher 05.13.04 release.
I want to jailbreak my phone but whenever I try to install a custom firmware i get a 1600 error
Is this because of my higher firmware and is there a way to jailkbreak this phone ??

yes!! I just did it on my 3gs, that has the updated bootrom., and I was at 5.12.01 + 3.1.3 Just keep pushing spirit and/or black ra1n till you get cydia, then ultrasnow on cydia and I'm t-mobiling like a charm!

Spirit can Jailbreak and Ultrasnow can unlock if your phone is already activated (not stuck on the iTunes logo)

That correct spirit will only jailbreak your iphone. However once jailbroken, go to cydia and the new version of ultransn0w unlocks all models so that you can use with any carrier. as long as you have 3.1.3 you are good to go.

You can use spirit to jailbreak then Ultrasn0w to unlock, just did it on my Iphone 3g 3.1.3 on 5.12.0

Note: When you use UltraSn0w and unlock your iphone, if you get “No Service”, then go to settings->Reset->Reset all settings. This fixed the problem for me.
