Apple’s Sports app has now been updated to add support for a new feature that makes it easier to share games with others.
The new Game Card Sharing feature allows games to be shared with people via Messages and social media, with the start of the NBA and NHK playoffs this weekend set to give the Sports app a good test.
The feature allows Apple Sports users to create and share game cards for all of the leagues and sports that are supported including MLB, MLS, NBA, NHL, and more.
Sharing a game card means that a card with a link to the game will be shared with the recipient, including the current or final score. Notably, no actual Apple Sports app update is required for this feature to be enabled, suggesting that the feature was turned on via Apple’s servers.
The new Game Card Sharing feature was enabled today. The Sports app has been around for more than a year and has received plenty of updates in that time. Now, it supports more leagues and sports than ever before, but remains only available for those in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.
Interestingly, the app is only available on the iPhone with no sign of an iPad or Mac version being in the works.
