Tesla’s Cybertruck Deliveries Reportedly Halted Over Accelerator Pedal Issues

Following the news that Tesla has chosen to delay some of its Cybertruck deliveries the company has left it up to others to try and figure out why that might have been the case.

However, some Cybertruck owners have started to explain what they’ve heard and now it appears there’s a consensus — there’s something wrong with the Cybertruck’s accelerator pedal.

The Verge reports that some people on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum have reported receiving texts or calls telling them that their deliveries have been rescheduled, with one saying that their dealer mentioned a recall over its accelerator pedal. Others reported text messages that largely amounted to the same thing.

Some users say they’ve already experienced the issue with their own Cybertrucks, with one noting that their EV simply accelerated to full throttle all of its own accord.

A Cybertruck owner posted a video to TikTok showing how their accelerator pedal cover got stuck and “held the accelerator down 100 percent, full throttle.” They said pressing the brake stopped the truck from continuing to accelerate, but if they let up, it would start going again.

Another person reportedly said that their truck drove into a signal pole after doing the same thing with neither the brake pedal nor the airbags working.

If all of this really is the case it’s very easy to see why Tesla would choose to delay deliveries rather than risk Cybertrucks driving off on their own, and hopefully, this isn’t an issue that ultimately results in someone being hurt.
