As Teslas continues to work its way towards being able to set its fleet of electric vehicles loose on the roads with zero supervision, the company has touted the way they drive themselves around its factories.
In a video posted to the Tesla_AI X account the company shared how “Teslas now drive themselves from their birthplace at the factory to their designated loading dock lanes without human intervention.”
The post then went on to say that the autonomous EVs mean that it is now “One step closer to large-scale unsupervised FSD.”
A follow-up video shows the vehicles driving around 1.2 miles at Tesla’s Fremont factory with views taken from inside the vehicle itself. There is no denying that the video makes for an impressive watch, although it’s obvious to most that there is a world of difference between driving around what is essentially a closed, controlled circuit and then doing it on public roads.
Tesla has so far been unable to back up promises of truly autonomous driving from its vehicles, despite CEO Elon Musk making claims that such a thing is just around the corner. He’s been saying that for some time now, but we have to imagine that he will eventually be right.

For now though, we’ll just have to make do with watching these videos and hoping the technology can prove as reliable in the real world.
