It appears that famous jailbreak hacker MuscleNerd visited Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino earlier today, starting rumors of Apple potentially hiring another key member of the iOS jailbreaking community.
Apple has always been a victim of counterfeiting, with fake iPods and iPhones flooding the grey market, and more recently fake Apple Stores which have popped in both China and Iraq. To top it off, a Chinese game maker has made a fake Apple website in order to promote their game.
Just last week, the United States Department of Justice moved to stop the proposed merger between AT&T and T-Mobile. Sprint, another competitor in the United States carrier space, has is also suing to stop the merger between the two companies.
For a long time, customers in the United States, and later Canada, have been able to cheaply rent movies and TV shows from Netflix, and more recently stream them to many devices, ranging from set-top boxes to mobile handsets. More than one decade later, movie aficionados in Latin America will also be able to stream Netflix content starting later this month.
Earlier this year, AT&T announced it would purchase the US branch of German carrier T-Mobile for as much as $39 Billion, merging both networks into one. In a surprising move, the US Government is filing a complaint in federal court in order to stop the merger.
The last couple of weeks have been of sweeping change for HP, especially its webOS division, as the company announced it would kill of every single webOS hardware product until the end of the year. Soon after, HP's webOS tablet, the TouchPad, began selling for $99, instead of the usual $399, in order to liquidate all remaining stock, yet the response from customers was so overwhelming that HP will actually begin making a last batch of TouchPads.
Anybody who takes more than a fleeting interest in the jailbreak community will have heard of Jay Freeman. For those of you that haven't, he is the mastermind behind the Cydia infrastructure which is at the heart of every single jailbroken iDevice to date.
It's no secret that the HP TouchPad, which launched only a few months ago, has had lousy sales, before being discontinued altogether earlier this week, as part of a larger shift within HP (likely caused by the device's weak performance in the first place). HP, which is probably sitting on quite a lot of stock, is attempting to get rid of it quickly by radically dropping the TouchPad's starting price to as little as $99, starting today.
Its no surprise that Apple is setting the standards when it comes to design and innovation of smartphones and tablets, whilst rivals continue to imitate!
