According to reports, while the next-generation iPhone is still slated for an October release, Apple are still deciding on design specifics and are yet to finalize anything. So, the giant-screened aluminum monstrosity that is the wet dream of most iPhone concept artists is not a guarantee. As iMore notes, Apple unsurprisingly – they are a highly design-oriented company after all – extensively prototypes all future devices that they plan on releasing.

June 2007 will always go down as a momentous month in smartphone history due to the fact it marked the launch of the original Apple iPhone which set about a total change in the mobile industry. The following year saw the launch of the iPhone 3G pushed back a month until July with the next two releases of the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 both following the original launch date, and coming in the month of June.

Apple decided, that in 2011, it would break the regular launch pattern for the iPhone and deviate from the traditional June unveiling. The company took to the stage in October instead during the “Let’s talk iPhone” event to announce the details and release date for the current iPhone 4S. Even though the 4S has only been with us for just over three months, people are starting to speculate and anticipate when we will see the announcement of the iPhone 5.
