Netflix today announced two new high quality video streams, with one featuring a whole extra for those who just can't get enough. Netflix has almost singlehandedly put the video store out of business, and with DVD and Blu-ray disc sales always under pressure from online content distributors, the streaming media company is seeking to re-double its efforts to stay ahead of the competition.
Those who prefer to sit behind a Windows or OS X powered computer sometimes forget that there is a whole community of users across the world who prefer to step away from the mainstream operating systems and instead choose to use a version of Linux, with one of the most popular one being Ubuntu. Ubuntu offers a fantastic user experience to those who choose to use it, but unfortunately, it doesn't always offer compatibility with applications and programs, with the extremely popular Netflix app being a prime example of this problem.
For a long time, customers in the United States, and later Canada, have been able to cheaply rent movies and TV shows from Netflix, and more recently stream them to many devices, ranging from set-top boxes to mobile handsets. More than one decade later, movie aficionados in Latin America will also be able to stream Netflix content starting later this month.
Netflix is a popular online on-demand streaming media service for the USA and Canada. Subscribers can stream thousands of movies and televisions shows on a variety of devices including the Xbox 360, iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone 7.
Official Netflix app for Android was released couple of days back. It was disappointing to see that majority of Android devices aren’t compatible and initially this primary release is only “compatible” with HTC Incredible, Nexus One, EVO 4G, G2 and Nexus S.
Netflix on Xbox 360 has got a major update to include support for controlling the experience using Kinect for Xbox 360 peripheral.
The wait is finally over. Netflix app which was previously only available for iPad has been updated to version 1.10 to bring full compatibility with all the iPhones and iPod touches out there. In other words, Netflix app is now a universal binary across all the iOS based devices, oh and it is free!
