The hackers from Chronic Dev-Team have posted a rather miniscule update on their official blog on the GreenPois0n tool. GreenPois0n is the tool that was initially going to jailbreak iOS 3.1.3 (iPhone) and iOS 3.2 (iPad) and is now expected to jailbreak iOS 4.1 soon.
PwnageTool bundle for iPhone 3G running final version of iOS 4.1 has been released. Unlike iOS 4.2 bundle, this one has fully working Cydia and it also supports hacktivation.
If the steps posted earlier were too difficult for you to follow, well you can now get HDR (High Dynamic Range) Photography feature on your jailbroken iPhone 3G and 3GS with a new tweak in Cydia which goes by the name of “HDR Camera Enabler”.
We previously mentioned that a low-level tethered jailbreak for iOS 4.1 would be coming soon to iPhones, iPod touches and iPad. Just now, we have received information that the next jailbreak will be from Chronic Dev-Team and it will be named GreenPois0n.
We previously broke the news to our respected readers of a low-level bootrom exploit which would enable jailbreaking on iOS 4.1 and beyond with all versions of the iPod touch, iPhone and of course, iPad! This exploit was special in a way because Apple will not be able to patch the exploit with a software update, instead it will require Apple to release entirely revised hardware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and we all know that we are at least 6 months away from any hardware revisions.
The unofficial version of PwnageTool for iOS 4.1 on iPhone 3GS has been released. It can jailbreak iPhone 3GS (with old bootrom only) using iOS 4.1 custom firmware. For those of you who don’t know, PwnageTool for Mac enables iPhone users to upgrade to the new firmware without upgrading the baseband, hence making it possible to jailbreak and unlock the phone using the Ultrasn0w software. This version of PwnageTool unfortunately doesn’t support hacktivation, so you will have to either use officially supported SIM, or the phonebook SIM card method to activate the phone before unlocking it with Ultrasn0w.
The iPhone hacker (pod2g of Chronic Dev Team) who previously found the 24kpwn exploit has successfully managed to find another bootrom based exploit which can jailbreak all iOS based devices on the latest iOS 4.1 firmware. What this means is that the next jailbreak most probably is going to be based on bootrom exploit which unlike JailbreakMe will enable users to change boot and recovery mode logos among many other things.
Apple has just released the very final version for iOS 4.1 for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touches. This version of iOS brings a number of new features for iPhone and iPod touch users including: Game Center, HDR Photography for iPhone 4, iTunes Ping, HD video upload on YouTube and MobileMe for iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G and so on. If you want to keep your jailbreak and unlock, you better not update to this latest firmware now until and unless new jailbreak and unlock tools are available for download.
One of the new features in iOS 4.1 in the introduction of HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography for iPhone 4 users. With HDR option enabled in Camera app, you can take more detailed photos than what a normal photograph can show or capture. This feature basically takes three photos in quick succession, one properly exposed, one overexposed and one underexposed, and then combines all three to produce one single detailed photograph.
Next week, Apple will roll-out the new iOS 4.1 firmware for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPad and iPod touch. This new firmware like iOS 4.0.2 will require another exploit for jailbreak as the loophole which was found in iOS 4.0.1 was quickly fixed by Apple in iOS 4.0.2. Comex will be on it once Apple releases the firmware to public early next week.
