If you’ve been a gaming enthusiast for the last decade, you have probably played SimCity, the simulator game that involves building a virtual city. After several years dormant, a new release of SimCity is upon us and players can now register for a three-day beta, which will run from January 25th to the 28th.
Yep, you read that right! In what must serve as the most predictable news story of the year so far, it has been confirmed Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops II was the biggest selling game of the whole of last year. Considering every new installment of the Call of Duty series tends only to compete with previous CoD records, the news comes as very little surprise, and once again reaffirms the series' position as the undisputed king of the gaming market.
Whenever something, be it an achievement, product, or person, sets new, unprecedented benchmarks within any field, there are always those few skeptics ready and waiting to cast fresh doubt wherever an opportunity arises. With the Call of Duty franchise having continually blown other titles out of the water in terms of sales statistics during the past couple of years, there were still plenty of question marks pondering whether the famed CoD series had lost its touch. Today, publisher Activision has answered that question quite emphatically by delivering the damning news that the latest installment - Call of Duty: Black Ops II - has passed the billion-dollar holy grail in a mere 15 days.
Scarcely does a product get hyped and lauded more so than does a PC game release, and although the upcoming Crysis 3 will be launching on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it's the PC gamers that would consider themselves the most hardcore. In preparation for the title, which is powered by that Crytek CryEngine3, gamers have been bracing themselves for the inevitable spec requirement bump, and with Electronic Arts having just released the details of what kinds of standards your rig will need to meet, let's just say you'll definitely need to put mommy's Compaq to one side for this one.
Now Halo 4 and Call Of Duty: Black Ops II are done and dusted, perhaps the next most anticipated title will be Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V. Up until recently, the developer has been dropping bundles of screenshots and images intermittently, but with pre-orders having officially begun and a Spring release date now confirmed, the level of excitement for the next version of GTA is reaching fever pitch.
During the course of the next few months, its fair to say gaming fans have got it pretty good. Halo 4 has just released, and having sold in record numbers, Call of Duty: Black Ops II is ready to make its annual assault on the sales charts. On top of that, Rockstar Games have gotten GTA fans all hot and bothered about the prospect of Grand Theft Auto V, and after months of teaser screenshots, the developer finally began taking pre-orders last month for the release in early 2013. With gamers now under no illusions about when GTA V will be making its way to market, Rockstar has reverted back to its old tactic, so without further ado, here's your latest batch of screenshots.
Officially set to be released next year, we can't help but get excited every time we hear little snippets of information regarding Grand Theft Auto V. The highly anticipated release in the GTA franchise has been under development for quite some time, but apart from the few teasing screenshots, promotional images released by Rockstar Games, we haven't really had a great deal to get our teeth into. GTA IV left a few hardcore fans feeling a little let down with the experience, but it certainly looks like Rockstar are back on top of their game with the latest offering.
The world of eSports is continually growing, with Starcraft possibly the biggest of the lot. Activision has always wanted the Call of Duty games to be part of the eSports movement, but with its proliferation of run and gun gamers, the gameplay and level of competition has always just fallen short. With Call of Duty: Black Ops II however, Activision is hoping to change all that.
Anyone with even a passing interest in the world of videogames will know all about Grand Theft Auto. It's the game that has caused more than a little controversy over the years, with some even calling for it to be banned thanks to its rather mature content. Thankfully, that's not happened and the fifth release of the game is on its way.
If you've been following Rockstar's leaked screenies of Grand Theft Auto V, you'll have noticed just how darned awesome it looks. Gamers have been salivating over the teasing images for months, but with precious little in the way of an ETA, quite a few have grown a little disgruntled.
