Love or loathe Google Glass, the search giant's intriguing project continues to get the lion's share of the media's coverage, but whilst the tech world remains fascinated by this new technology, many start-ups have sought to compete against the might of Google with their very own attempts at building a face computer. Pebble 2.0 For Android Finally Available With Dedicated Appstore And More

Ben Reid·March 8, 2014
Even though Android has, by quite some distance, the biggest reach of the major smartphone platforms, developers tend, by and large, to favor the iTunes App Store over Google Play. Pebble, maker of the famed, self-titled smartwatch that kicked up a storm on Kickstarter in raising $10 million and selling out its 85,000 inventory right from the start, launched its version 2.0 iOS app a whole month ago in an announcement that also saw the introduction of a dedicated Pebble Appstore, as well as some new firmware for the wrist-worn gadget. Today, Android users can finally get in on the act as the big v2.0 of the Pebble companion app hits the Play Store.

The Apple iPhone regularly tops the charts when it comes to overall customer satisfaction, and the desirability factor of the Cupertino's prized asset is showing no signs of wearing down. Jawbone UP Coffee App For iPhone Keeps Tabs On How Much Caffeine You’re Consuming

Ben Reid·March 7, 2014
We seem, as people, to have developed something of an obsession with coffee. In many countries - particularly the United States and the UK - the likes of Starbucks and Caffé Nero swarm our town centers and shopping malls, and as a result, many of us cannot get through the day without a frappé coffee, mocha or espresso. A lot of the time, we're simply chasing that caffeine pick-me-up, and while it can work miracles in the mornings, when trying to get some sleep later on in the day, having too much of the stuff in our systems is never fun. With this in mind, Jawbone has come up with an interesting app that not only keeps track of how much caffeine we're getting, but also, rather accurately, speculates on when we'll be finally able to get some shut-eye.

Going on the premise that everybody loves a freebie, we've already seen paid apps go free through the Apple Store app, and over the festive period, a special free playlist of tracks was compiled and distributed in the spirit of the occasion. Today, Apple is back with another free mixtape of sorts, pushing a three-song bundle out focusing on new artists for 2014.
