Samsung Mocks iPad Display And Lack of Multitasking In New Galaxy Tab S Ads [Video]

Ben Reid·July 12, 2014
It's a well-known fact that Samsung spends copious amounts of money on advertising and marketing, and a good deal of that budget is commanded by adverts bashing rival Apple in one way or another. Two of the most influential outfits in mobile space, it's not uncommon for each company to deliver several ads a year taking shots at the other's products and services, and as such, it should come as little surprise that Samsung's efforts to plug its Galaxy Tab S line includes a few not-so-subtle digs at the Apple iPad.

So, when Major Nelson says that Grand Theft Auto 5 is on sale, with a massive 50% off its normal price, then we tend to take notice. More details can be found right after the fold.

Leaked iPhone 6 Front Frame Reveals LCD Shielding, Home Button Bracket

Ben Reid·July 12, 2014
The iPhone 6 parts leaks are arriving thick and fast, and having seen a fair bit of the alleged sapphire glass front cover for Apple's upcoming handset over the last couple of days, we've now got what appears to be a legitimate leak of the device's front frame. Notably, it includes a large shield used to keep the display element separate from the major interior components, and although there's no way of confirming its authenticity, it's certainly plausible when we consider some of the other leaks we've seen lately.

Samsung Unveils Exynos ModAP Processor, Likely To Power Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S6

Ben Reid·July 12, 2014
Samsung has just unveiled its next-generation mobile processor, and in no uncertain terms, it's a beast. The South Korean company has consistently sought to up the ante with its stream of Exynos processors, and the new Exynos ModAP does precisely that. Although there's no telling whether Samsung plans to implement this new SoC into the imminent Galaxy Note 4, it's more than likely to feature as the workhorse of the next flagship Galaxy S6, which we expect to release at some point in early 2015.

How To Enable Chromecast Screen Mirroring On Any Android Device

Ben Reid·July 12, 2014
This year's Google I/O may have been dominated by the search giant's grand unveiling of Android L, but there were still plenty of other major announcements besides. Notably, the $35 Chromecast dongle, which turned the streaming market on its head when it first released back in 2013, would support Android Mirroring a la Apple's AirPlay Mirroring, and following the annual developer conference, we couldn't wait to give it a whirl. Having rolled the feature out earlier on this week, many Chromecast-owning Droidsters have jumped on this new feature, but unfortunately, it's rather limited with regards to the devices that it will stream from. Thankfully, though, there's a relatively painless workaround.

iPhone 6 A8 Processor Gets Detailed: 2 Ghz, Dual-Core

Ben Reid·July 11, 2014
Although hardware info regarding the iPhone 6 has been rather scarce by comparison to the wave of information pertaining to its design, it's a certainty that Apple's next-gen handset will include an improved processor. Many have, quite naturally, speculated that it will be the Apple 'A8', although specific details have, hitherto, been very much at a premium. However, a new report suggests that, for the first time in an iOS device, the SoC could be clocked above 2 GHz, although it will still, allegedly, include two cores rather than the industry norm of four.

Watch: iPhone 6 Sapphire Glass Display Gets Run Over By A Car [Video]

Ben Reid·July 11, 2014
It seems almost certain that the next-gen iPhone's front panel will be comprised of sapphire glass, with Apple apparently looking strengthen up a feature prone to shattering. As for sapphire glass's credentials as a robust material, we've already seen via the key and knife test that it can hold its own, and so now, as ever, the time has come for the car test.

Nike Rolls Out New Soccer-Centric App For iOS And Android, Download It From Here

Ben Reid·July 11, 2014
Although the FIFA World Cup has almost drawn its conclusion now what with Germany and Argentina battling out the finale this weekend, this hasn't stopped the recent wave of football / soccer-related apps. In fact, given that fans in Europe and across much or the footballing world are just a couple of weeks away from the commencement of the new season, perhaps this is the best time for these apps to begin appearing, and Nike has jumped right in by releasing a new app for Android and iOS providing fans of The Beautiful Game with a one-stop source for content and social interaction.

Apple Chops iTunes Song Previews Down To 30 Seconds From 90

Oliver Haslam·July 11, 2014
When Apple started extending the previews of songs that were longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds back in 2010, licensing was a big factor in reason that not all songs received the updated 90 second previews at the same time. Now, Apple appears to be reducing some of those previews to just 30 seconds, no matter the length of the song, across both the desktop and mobile versions of the iTunes Store.
