Only Some iMac Colors Will Be Available In Retail Apple Stores

Apple today confirmed, on the eve of pre-orders going live, that only some of the new iMac colors will be available to buy in-store.

That means that people wanting to get their hands on some of the new colors will have to order online rather than visit their local Apple Store.

The news was shared in a Newsroom post today and to say it’s worded oddly is an understatement.

Featuring a stunning design in a spectrum of vibrant colors, the breakthrough M1 chip, and a brilliant 4.5K Retina display, the new iMac is much more compact and fits easily in even more places, transforming any space into anything users need it to be. iMac configurations in green, pink, blue, and silver will be available to purchase directly at apple.com and Apple Store locations, and all seven colors will be available at apple.com.

Poor wording aside, it appears that only green, pink, blue, and silver options will be available to anyone walking into an Apple Store to buy their new iMac. That means that orange, purple, and yellow will be an online-only affair.

Pre-orders for the new iMacs go live tomorrow so this is definitely something to keep in mind. We’d suggest placing an order online regardless of the color though – why head out to an Apple Store when someone will bring your new computer to you instead?
