Apple has only just released the M5 version of the iPad Pro tablet, but rumors now suggest that it is already working on bringing an iPhone 17 Pro-like vapor chamber to the M6 version.
Writing in the weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the next iPad Pro could seek to improve cooling beyond its currently levels, adding a vapor chamber similar to that of the iPhone 17 Pro.

Given all that, a vapor chamber in the iPad Pro — which is even thinner than the iPad Air — is on the company’s road map. Apple is now working on the feature, with plans to integrate it as soon as the next round of updates. The company is on an 18-month upgrade cycle for the iPad Pro, suggesting that the vapor chamber could be added around spring 2027.
Cooling for Apple’s newest chips continues to be vital. The M5 version of the 14-inch MacBook Pro has already seen some reports of thermal throttling due to its inability to keep its new chip cool. The iPad Pro doesn’t have a fan to help reduce temperatures, so adding a vapor cooling solution could help matters.
However, the M6 iPad Pro is still thought to be almost two years off being announced, so we will have to wait a little while before we can find out whether this particular Gurman rumor is accurate.
