iOS 18 Could Let Users Heavily Customize Their iPhone Home Screen Icons Using AI

Apple is expected to announce the iOS 18 iPhone software update next month and the latest rumors suggest that the update will include new Home screen customization options.

According to Mark Gurman, writing in the weekly Power On newsletter, Apple intends to give iPhone owners the chance to change the color of app icons. That could then mean people choosing a particular color scheme to match a wallpaper theme, for example.

Gurman has also said that Apple’s iOS 18 update will allow people to place their app icons wherever they want to on the Home screen, something that isn’t currently allowed. Right now there is no way to leave a space on the Home screen with icons having to sit beside others.

Gurman suggests that there will be the option to have gaps while also removing the need to have icons stick to a grid as has always been the case with the iPhone and iPad. This change could give the iPhone an experience more akin to placing icons on a Mac’s Desktop.

Apple’s WWDC event is expected to take place on June 10 with iOS 18 one of the updates that we expect to be announced.

The updates will then go through a months-long beta process before being made available to the public this coming September. Updates will likely be offered for the iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro.
