iOS 17 Could Get A New Game Mode For Improved iPhone Performance

Apple’s expected to announce iOS 17 in or around September and the latest beta is now in the hands of developers following a release this week. That release appears to have pointed toward a new feature that is designed to make gaming on iPhones even better.

Apple is already adding something called Game Mode to macOS Sonoma when that arrives later this year and now it appears that a similar mode could be on the way to iOS 17 as well. Apple didn’t announce that during the WWDC 2023 preview of iOS 17, but the latest beta appears to point towards it being in development regardless.

That’s according to a 9to5Mac report which says that “some of the same frameworks used to control Game Mode in macOS Sonoma have been added to iOS 17 beta 4.”

While iOS and macOS do share a lot of code due to universal apps, Game Mode has never been officially announced as a feature for iPhone and iPad. This leads us to believe that Apple has been experimenting with the feature on iOS as w

If that’s the case we can expect iOS 17 to do something similar to macOS Sonoma — reduce background processes and offer up as many resources to games as possible to ensure better performance.

It’s important to remember that none of this ahs been confirmed by Apple and the frameworks might disappear in a future beta or simply never come to anything on the iPhone. But with more betas expected, we’ll find out sooner or later.
