How To Add Animated Transitions To iOS 7 Home Screen For Free [VIDEO]

If you’ve been involved in the jailbreak scene for a number of years then it’s highly likely that you’ll be familiar with a number of the more popular tweaks that still grace Cydia with their presence. Thousands of iOS device owners, including myself, regularly take advantage of latest jailbreak techniques purely to get their hands on a couple of "must have" packages. The Barrel tweak, developed by Aaron Ash, is one of Cydia’s more well-known and used tweaks and has sat in a class of its own for a number of years – until the arrival of Cylinder by Reed Weichler.

Cylinder is an entirely free-of-charge installation that introduces a number of interesting and highly attractive animations to the jailbroken device’s home screen. In a similar fashion to Barrel, Cylinder comes into effect when the user of the iPhone or iPod touch swipes from screen-to-screen in search of apps that may be located on different pages. It’s hard not to talk about Cylinder in the same fashion as we discuss Barrel. However, while the core concept is the same, many will feel that Cylinder’s free nature and extensive animation set will set it apart.

The native installation of Cylinder introduces more than 45 different icon effects onto the device. That alone makes it worth the download. In addition to the default effects, it’s also possible to morph together animations to form a chain of effects, meaning that there are more than 35 billion possibilities. We imagine it’ll take even the most hardcore user a long time to test all of those combinations out. The appeal of Cylinder definitely comes from the fact that it is well put together and comes with extensive support for unique customization that should suit any jailbroken iOS device user.
