Facebook Home For Android Gets Its First Official Ad Dubbed ‘Airplane’ [VIDEO]

It’s only been a couple of days since Mark Zuckerberg announced its new Facebook Home for Android home launcher, and with the feature set to roll out to the vast majority of handsets over the coming months, the Palo Alto-based company is already looking to raise awareness. The very first advertisement for Facebook Home has just been released via the company’s official page over on YouTube, and focuses on just how much more interesting those boring business trips can become with the fun and social prowess of Facebook Home for Android.

The ad is entitled "Airplane," and shows a very businessman-like man about to board an airplane. Only instead of the usual monotony, he finds himself surrounded by friends, family and generally more exciting company than oft-disgruntled fellow travellers. Facebook Home, it is noted in the video’s caption, "brings a guy’s friends on the journey with him," helping him to realize "that his life isn’t as conservative as his khakis."

The setting is pretty mundane to begin with, but as soon as the guy begins interacting with his device, the mood flips and takes a big spin. He opens a storage compartment to find one of his buddies hidden inside, and from then on, all kinds of theater, partying, and generally entertaining activity breaks loose.

Not much passes through the Interwebs nowadays without a kitten or a Facebook "like" close by, and so it shouldn’t be of too much surprise that the video clip ends with our friend the businessman liking a picture containing two cats.

Zuck and Facebook made a pretty big statement of intent in announcing Home on Thursday morning, and although there’s a fair amount of work to be done in ensuring the new feature is tailored, tested and released for each an every major Android device, the vast array of features look promising indeed.

Anybody spending a prolonged amount of time on Facebook will be keenly anticipating the launch of Facebook Home, and although tablets will be put to one side initially to ensure the likes of the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 get first dibs, we should see support across most of the board long before the year draws to a close. Facebook Home will officially be released on the 12th of this month, and we will as usual inform you when it is available over at the Google Play Store.
