In order to develop and release applications through the App Store or Mac App Store, devs must be subscribed to Apple's Developer program, which costs $99 per year in the United States. In the United Kingdom, the price has long been set at £60 per annum, which, at current exchange, is slightly cheaper than Stateside developers. However, Apple has hiked the price for some nations within the European Union, and while Brits looking to join the party will now have to pony up £79, the yearly premium has risen in Germany from €80 to €99.

Smartphones have evolved dramatically over the last five years to become a necessity in our day-to-day existence, but what happens if you're the forgetful type who happens to misplace belongings quite a lot? We think it's pretty fair to say that smartwatches and intelligent wearable devices are going to be with us for the long haul. What was initially nothing more than an extension of a smartphone’s notification system has developed into a huge billion dollar industry with major players such as Samsung, LG, Sony and Apple all competing for market share. Of course, it's not only the so-called "big boys" that can produce quality hardware, leaving smaller companies to get in on the action with innovative wearable solutions, which is exactly what the team behind the Indiegogo funded Kairos T-band have done.

More recently, though, the iPhone maker has sought to distance itself from Samsung in this capacity, decreasing its reliance by drafting in other companies, and with 2015 being well and truly here, it seems that Apple's A9 processor duties will largely be the responsibility of TSMC.

2014 has been one of Apple's strongest years so far. More record-breaking early sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus threw the gauntlet to its competitors, particularly Samsung, and to cap off a great twelve months, the Cupertino company has also pushed some very impressive numbers this holiday period. A total of 51 percent of mobile device activations over Christmas were of Apple products, and with the company's inaugural smartwatch effort looming, the Mac maker looks set for yet more dominance as we head on into 2015.
