Yesterday, Apple released the iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch 3G / 2G and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad to fix the PDF exploit which was used by JailbreakMe.com. Since the nature of exploit was highly vulnerable, Apple recommended everyone to update to this new firmware in order to secure all iOS based devices. This of course also meant that jailbreak and unlock for iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad and iPod touch 3G on iOS 4.0.2 / 3.2.2 will not be possible for these mentioned devices.
Apple TV is Apple’s attempt to revolutionize the way we watch TV, but quite frankly, they have failed to impress in this space thus far. Its been quite a while since Apple refreshed its Apple TV lineup. Earlier this week, there were rumors about Apple TV getting a refresh with iOS early next year. And now Engadget is reporting from one of their trusted source that a refresh is imminent, and that it is now going to be called as iTV.
Ok guys I just tested it on an old iPhone 3G lying around and can confirm that this works! Now that Apple has released iOS 4.0.2 to patch the PDF exploit, JailbreakMe which was previously used to jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch 3G / 2G and iPad is now incompatible with iOS 4.0.2. But if you have iPhone 3G (which doesn’t rely on an unlock) or an iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) lying around, you can jailbreak it using the existing version of Redsn0w. Simply follow the step by step guide posted below to jailbreak the mentioned devices on iOS 4.0.2 using Redsn0w.
Apple has just released iOS 4.0.2 for all iPhones, iPod touches, and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad to patch the PDF exploit which was used by JailbreakMe to jailbreak all iOS devices on iOS 4.0.1. If you want to keep your jailbreak and unlock, you better not update to this latest firmware now or you will be out of luck for long. Incase you have decided not to update, make sure you use PDF Loading Warner app which will make your web browsing safe. Of course if you care about security of your iPhone, then you can go ahead and update to the latest firmware from iTunes.
iOS 3.2.2 has been released to patch the PDF exploit used by JailbreakMe. If you love your jailbroken iPad on iOS 3.2.1 and want to keep the jailbreak, DO NOT update to this new firmware yet or you’ll lose the jailbreak because there is currently no tool available yet which can jailbreak iPad, iPhone and iPod touches on their respective new firmwares.
iPhone and iPod touch Jailbreakers, Do Not Update to iOS 4.0.2 Until New Jailbreak Tool is Available
Apple has pushed out the new iOS 4.0.2 firmware for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, 3G and iPod touch 3G / 2G. This new firmware is basically a security update which patches the PDF exploit used by JailbreakMe to jailbreak all iOS devices.
