Geohot has made a dramatic return to iPhone jailbreak scene with a complete new bootrom exploit and tool to pwn all current iOS devices on iOS 4.1 for life! He has been out for months, but his return is surely going to please everyone, specially the 3rd-generation iPhone and iPod touch owners who were left out by SHAtter based GreenPois0n.
Okay take this news with a grain of salt, for we are not sure here whether this is just a rumor, or a real deal. In an unexpected turn of events, the lemon drop image on Limera1n.com is now pointing towards a image which is showing all iOS devices, including those which are not supported by the upcoming GreenPois0n tool as jailbroken.
Even though Chronic Dev Team hasn’t announced the tethered status for the SHAtter based GreenPois0n tool yet, but if this tweet from the well known Cydia developer is anything to go by, GreenPois0n is most likely going to be an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 4G and Apple TV 2G on iOS 4.1.
iOS 4.1 Jailbreak news time! We have a lil’ update for all you guys anxiously waiting for SHAtter based GreenPois0n tool. Chronic Dev Team hacker p0sixninja, one of the hackers who are working on GreenPois0n jailbreak with SHAtter exploit, has tweeted that the tool is not coming out tomorrow or today or any fixed date for now.
With the low-level SHAtter exploit scheduled to pwn all iOS devices for life soon, it wouldn't be wrong to say that the iOS 4.1 jailbreak will go down in history as one of the most anticipated jailbreak tool releases ever. And it is now “seems” only a matter of days, not weeks, till GreenPois0n tool is released.
iTunes 10.1 Beta has also been released today alongside iOS 4.2 Beta 2. Again, this release is currently meant for developers only, running both Windows and Mac. Except for the support of the new wireless printing feature in iOS, there is seems to be nothing new in this release.
While there are dozens upon dozens of patents that Apple has been granted, very few reach the quirkiness of the patent that Apple was granted today. The patent handed out day is that of a handheld device (think: future iPods, iPads and iPhones) that use capacitive, resistive touchscreens as as well surface acoustic wave forms (wth?) to recognize your hands/fingers simply by the way you hold it.
The iPhone Dev-Team has finally shown off a video demo of iOS 4.1 jailbreak on the newly released iPod touch 4G by loading SHAtter exploit in PwnageTool (video after the break). This test version of PwnageTool however is currently for internal testing only. But it will be released later for iPhone 4 users so that they can preserve their old baseband in future for carrier unlock by restoring to the custom firmware file.
Apple has just released iTunes 10.0.1 for both Windows and Mac. This version brings a new sidebar for Ping in iTunes which makes it easier to share your favorite music with friends and family, along with tons of other bug fixes. Full change log is as follows.
As amazing, revolutionary and magical the iPad may be, the fact remains that it lacks quite clearly in the video playback department. It only supports H.264, .mp4 and .mov video formats. Pretty limited, if you ask me. The tedious process of having to convert video files in iTunes before moving it to the iPad is, well, rather tedious.
