Are you a fan of TweetDeck but not so hot on Adobe AIR? If so, then mark today on your calendars, because Twitter just made you very, very happy by killing the Adobe AIR version of the popular Twitter app and replacing it with native Mac and Windows versions.

Google Chrome users are in luck. A new extension has been added to shed yet more seconds out of your online searches. Last year the company introduced Google Instant, where typing in search queries would show results instantly while typing. Then they introduced Instant Pages, a feature found in current versions of the Chrome browser that loads certain pages of your Google search results in the background making them instantly appear when you click on them.

Keeping your music, movies, TV shows and photo library in sync across multiple devices emerged as one of the biggest first-world problems with the rise in popularity of smartphones and tablets a few years ago. The issue has only recently been resolved to a certain extent thanks to solutions such as Apple’s iCloud and Microsoft’s Windows Live SkyDrive, but managing data - and keeping it in sync - is still not as seamless as we would like it to be. Adobe is attempting to solve the photo library syncing issue to the fullest possible extend with their new Carousel apps for iOS and OS X which, well, keeps your photos in sync. As if there weren't enough apps and operating system updates already today, Apple also pushed a new version of its web browser, Safari, into the public domain. Coming packaged as part of the OS X Lion 10.7.2 update as well as being available as a separate download, Safari 5.1.1 features a host of new updates and changes, with iCloud support front and center.

We’ve come across a new app for OS X today that lets users lock and unlock their desktop using hotkeys, slide to unlock (a la iOS) with keyboard/trackpad/pass-pattern and comes with a plethora of customization options that make it a must-try app.
If you’re a Mac user and live and breathe Skype, or just use it occasionally to talk to your distant friends, you might be happy to know that the application has been updated to add support for OS X Lion as well as HD video chats. These improvements come in the form of Skype 5.3 which is available to the public today.
