Things are starting to hot up in the mobile operating system wars, with Apple's iOS and Android from Google battling it out for supremacy in the pockets of the world. While the two giants battle it out though, it's always worth remembering they aren't the only two boxers in this particular ring. Microsoft has high hopes for its Windows Phone 7 platform, though a lack of apps has held the OS back thus far. Now Microsoft is looking to rectify that by giving developers an easier way to port their iOS apps to WP7.
Back in the early days of jailbreaking, there was a young Cydia competitor going by the name of Icy. Working in a similar way to Cydia, Icy was always the faster, smoother and generally shinier app aggregator and download service. Unfortunately development on the app was ceased but now it's on its way back, and you can download a beta version right now.
Microsoft today released its Q3 2011 financial results and they're good with the numbers beating those expected by all the analysts with net income reaching a staggering $5.23billion.
One of the most common questions asked of people in the iOS jailbreak community is a simple one: why should I jailbreak my device? It's a hard one to answer - some like the powerful tools, others just want to customize their home screen. Head of all things Geek Robert Scoble decided to ask this very same question of the guy behind the jailbreak App Store Cydia, Jay Freeman and filmed the answers.
Finally, after a long wait, the illusive white iPhone 4 is now available for purchase at an Apple Store near you! Available in 28 countries, in both 16 and 32GB flavors, and for the same price as the current black version, the white iPhone 4 can be either ordered online, or purchased at any Apple Store.
Most of you by now will know that Apple has made white iPhone 4 official, and it is launching tomorrow in 28 countries, in both 16 and 32GB flavors, and for the same price as the current black version. But what most you might be wondering is why did it took Apple 10 months to launch the illusive handset in white?
Fring has been my favorite video chat app that I use on my Galaxy Tab. I have always preferred using it because of multi-OS support for the video chat. Furthermore, the video chat always went through even if the called party had no front facing cam on his/her device. Now, Fring has just gotten even better with the four-way free video calls enabled for just everyone on the planet.
Apple's mythical white iPhone 4 is finally on the cusp of a release, with the handset going on sale in just a few short hours. Some lucky buyers got their a little early though, and iSpazio has done just what any self-respecting fanboy (or girl) would do - taken some video of the phone's antenna and proximity sensor performance.
While there's no real reason to want to run an iPad app on your iPhone or iPod touch, few will argue that this is just plain old cool. One clever little coder has written an app called iTelePad2Pod that will make the magic happen. Obviously a jailbroken device is a necessity here, but you already did that didn't you?
Apple has finally issued an official statement on the iPhone location tracking issue which had the whole blogosphere going into a meltdown over the fact the iPhone was tracking our every move.
