The iPhone 4S takes photos that one would generally expect from a (low-end) dedicated point-and-shoot camera. In smartphone speak, that is class-leading image quality.

Remember Apple’s suing spree of 2011? The company filed lawsuits against multiple popular Android manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and Motorola in regions across the globe from USA all the way to Japan. A few weeks ago, Apple sued Samsung again on basis of their Galaxy S III; while that and many other cases are ongoing, one very major case in one very major country has been dismissed – that of Apple vs. Motorola Mobility. Microsoft’s recently announced Surface tablet is one of the most buzz-worthy product announcements in recent history. It is being seen by mobile technology enthusiasts as the first true competition to the iPad in a long time because of one solid reason. Based on Windows 8 - a desktop-class operating system - tablet that you can use for more than just consuming content, you can create documents in MS Office, make funny cat GIFs in Photoshop, develop the next big thing in Visual Studio etc. etc.
Popular social magazine app Flipboard, which saw great success on the iPad and iPhone, has now released for Android after being a timed exclusive on Samsung’s Galaxy S III. The app has also been updated with new features which we’ve discussed right after the break.
Revealed in late 2011, Siri the personal assistant has become one of iOS’ most recognized features at least on the latest iOS devices. It was updated recently at WWDC 2012, bringing new features such as being able to take queries regarding sports and movies, Facebook integration and support for the new iPad.
The tablet market is heating up, folks! The iPad continues to dominate it because of its sweet starting price and strong feature-set and now, other manufacturers are trying to come up with ways to beat it. Whether its Microsoft’s promise of a desktop-level experience with Windows 8 Pro on its Surface tablet or Amazon cutting down on extraneous features to get the starting price down to $199, everyone’s trying something.
After including major missing features in iOS 3, 4 and 5, iOS 6 has turned out to be more of an incremental update than anything else. Other than Maps, there are no downright mind-blowing features. Everything iOS 6-related announced by Forstall at WWDC 2012, we’ve seen in one form or another whether as a Cydia tweak or a minor feature on other platforms.
When I jumped onto the iOS bandwagon a couple of months ago, I was unanimously directed towards Reeder when I asked fellow enthusiasts for the best RSS reader on the platform. Being the news junkie that I am, Reeder was the first app I bought as soon as I set up my App Store account. I fell in love in the app at first sight! It’s user-experience is absolutely fantastic! So fantastic, as a matter of fact, that I now prefer going through my RSS feeds on the iPhone with Reeder than on my desktop computer with Google Reader.
One of the biggest reasons why people jailbreak their iPhone is to get it unlocked for use on unauthorized wireless networks. Although there are other unlocking solutions available, Ultrasn0w is the de-facto standard when it comes down to it because of one very simple reason: it’s stupid-easy to unlock an iPhone with it (unlike Gevey SIM), At least for an iPhone with a supported baseband.
After more than two years of work on bringing new features and reaching out to other mobile platforms, Foursquare completely redesigned their apps for iOS and Android.
