Today I took some time off and called over my friend from ProgrammerFish to review this exciting new technology from Microsoft. We both didn't knew much about it except for the fact that it had something to do with barcodes until we really tried and experienced it hands-on on our phones.

Microsoft has introduced a new educational platform which provides rich and interactive learning material for educators. Built upon the Microsoft .NET Framework, the Semblio platform will enable developers to reach new audiences and help create new business opportunities and revenue streams.
Microsoft has changed the way how Windows handles Gadgets on the desktop. In Windows Vista, Sidebar provided a containing environment which hosted mini-apps built using XML, DHTML and JavaScript. Now starting with Windows 7, Windows Sidebar is no longer required to run gadgets as these mini DHTML based apps can now be placed directly on the desktop without having to have Windows Sidebar running.

We did a comprehensive review of Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 when it was released back in August 2008. Not surprisingly, there is no major change since Beta 2. I did some testing of RC1 bits installed on Windows Vista Ultimate (x86) and my own impressions are that IE8 is indeed generally faster than Beta 2.

Microsoft today released a new updated CTP for Windows Azure SDK and Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio 2008. Both the updates are labeled as January 2009 CTP.
