We are used to seeing Apple holding large press and media events, with the intention of generating the maximum interest possible for any new hardware launch. But it seems that the relatively silent launch of the new 16GB iPod touch has passed by without any fuss coming from Cupertino campus. The immediate release of a 16GB variant of the fifth-generation iPod touch may have taken a few by surprise, especially considering the timing is only a few weeks shy of Apple's annual WWDC, but it serves as a replacement for the fourth-generation 16GB model that remained on sale when the larger 4-inch iPod touch 5G was announced last year.

It isn't exactly a well kept secret that the best way to drum up interest and excitement about your upcoming app or tweak is to release previews and beta copies well before the final product hits the market. Consumer interest is always at its peak when they have seen something that they want but can't quite get their hands on immediately. Show them something that they want and them make them wait for it. That seems to be exactly the case with the recently release Badger tweak that was previewed a month or so ago, but has now finally made its way onto Cydia for the BigBoss repository.
Just when you thought it was safe to enter into the Photography section of the iOS App Store without fear of stumbling across yet another filter based camera app, the guys over at Realmac Software have something that will surely divide opinion. The majority of iOS users will more than likely be familiar with the company's existing Clear for iPhone app that took the App Store by storm and later made an appearance on OS X, but it's their latest Analog Camera creation that is grabbing the attention at the moment, and we love the whole idea, too!
This iOS 7 concept goes skeuomorphism free, introduces flat UI, partially inspired by Windows Phone's Modern interface.Check out the full video embedded at the end of the article.
While it's pretty much a given that Apple will make some kind of announcement this year about the next-generation iPhone, it's still unknown exactly when that media conference will happen. There's strong speculation suggesting that the upcoming WWDC 2013 in San Francisco will be used once again as a software platform, effectively allowing Apple to introduce iOS 7. It seems unlikely that the Cupertino company will revert back to a June launch date for any new iPhone hardware, especially with the latest industry speculation suggesting that Sharp is set to ramp up their LCD panel production line to fulfill the required quota of iPhone 5S displays, beginning next month.
It may have only been a number of days since Apex Dev Team launched Velox for iPhone tweak into the jailbreak world, but it seems that it has already been accepted as one of the best and popular tweaks we have seen in a long while. Adding swipe gestures onto native app icons with the intention of bringing additional functionality into a folder window is obviously an extremely good idea. So good in fact that it has already started inspiring developers to build add-ons for Velox which offers functionality that doesn't exist with a standard installation of the tweak.
The pull-to-refresh implementation that was first introduced into the iOS ecosystem by Loren Brichter has pretty much become the de facto method of refreshing tabled data within iOS apps, but it seems that Ryan Petrich and Sentry_NC have an altogether different way of using this control method by making Do Not Disturb accessible from Notification Center and the lock screen of a jailbroken device.
Mobile devices like the iPhone, iPad - and to some extent the iPod touch - have made us all more socially aware and allow us to interact with people around the world with ease. It's human nature to interact with others and express our social sides, which is one of the reasons why social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Path have managed to ingrain themselves in our lives. But what about those social beavers who either happen to travel a lot and want to see what's going on around them or just want to discover new and topical events going on in their hometown? CalendApp could be the perfect tool.
There's no getting away from the fact that mobile devices like the iPhone and iPod touch are all about convenience and being able to do what we want to do with our connected lives. Whether it be accessing Facebook on the move, downloading the latest music track from a favorite artist or reading what's going on in the world from a cherished news app; the power of mobile is in plain view. It's for that exact reason why iOS device owners love to jailbreak their devices, and it doesn't come anymore convenient that the new LockscreenToggles tweak when it comes to getting almost immediate access to an array of system settings.
The jailbreak community has never failed to amaze us with the innovative and inventive tweaks that they manage to conjure up in their minds. Refreshing and filtering through Cydia inevitably brings up a wide variety of different types of packages and enhancements for jailbroken iOS devices, with some of the more popular tweaks proving to be those simple implementations that live directly on the lock screen of the phone. One of the latest to tackle the lock screen is the Piano Passcode offering and we have to say that it gets ten out of ten for originality.
