The release of iOS 6.1.2 may have fixed the Exchange calendar bug that was eating batteries like tapeworm, but it looks as though it still hasn't prevented the Evasi0n tool from offering an untethered jailbreak. Seasoned jailbreak guru and Evad3rs member Planetbeing has tweeted the good news that his iPhone 5 is jailbreakable on iOS 6.1.2, and although he has yet to test other devices, it's unlikely they'll throw up any nasty surprises. This means that, pending a little more investigation of course, you can update to iOS 6.1.2 and re-jailbreak to enjoy the perks of an untethered jailbreak on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Today, I headed over to the official launch of the HTC One down in London's Oxford Street, and got a hands-on look at the Taiwanese company's latest and greatest smartphone device. There's no debating that, on paper, the device is a monster, but what's it like to hold? Is the build quality up to scratch? And does the "Boom" factor in the speaker or the "UltraPixel" element of the camera make any notable difference, or is it marketing jargon? I'll be answering all of these questions, and offering my initial reaction to the device after the break.
As per a report, a MacBook Air with Retina display is currently in the works, with a projected release bracket of Q3 2013. In recent times, the only rumors we've heard pertaining to the MacBook Air was that it would be getting a refresh around June, with no notable changes from the previous generations, but this report throws everything up into the air once more.
An announcement by Microsoft has officially signaled the demise of the famed email service Hotmail, with Outlook moving in to fill its place having finally shaken off its seemingly everlasting Preview status. Although the end of Hotmail will perhaps be a poignant for a few within the Redmond camp, it has been a long time coming, and even though it seems like a big transition, the look and feel of Hotmail has borrowed from Outlook for a while now.
If you remember the eighties and the Commodore 64, you'll know how much of a far cry they were from the computers of today. But it's impossible to shake off the nostalgia we feel when we think about the great times we had with those much-loved older technologies, but seeing as though most Commodore 64 users have thrown the old classic away or stored it deeply away in a loft or attic, developer Thomas Conté has come up with a much more Digital Age method of rejuvenating that initial appeal. He's invented Camera 64, and as the name implies, it delivers your pictures in 16 colors, as if they were the product of the Commodore 64's VIC-II video chip.
Concept ideas help us to visualize a specific new feature or piece of software or hardware, rather than just imagining, and with the faults of iOS 6 having been well-documented of late, it's no surprise that we've seen a slew of concepts purporting to improve elements of Apple's mobile OS. One area which has seen a lot of attention - particularly in the jailbreak scene - is the app switcher, and Sentry, the designer behind Auxo tweak, has come through with another alternative take on how the Cupertino company could reinvent the multitasking bar.

It has been a matter of fierce debate as to whether Sony does indeed plan to unveil the PlayStation 4 at its special event in New York City on Wednesday. The rumors and speculation pertaining to the Samsung Galaxy S IV has been almost non-stop during the opening six weeks of 2013, and murmurings originating from the Twitter account of Eldar Murtazin, founder of Russian blog Mobile-Review, indicates the highly-anticipated device will be unveiled on March 14th in New York. Of course, it should be taken with a pinch of salt at this point in time, although with a March / April having looked a probable release frame for a while now, it's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that the handset could be just one month away.
Social networking is quickly becoming a pastime taken up by those on mobile devices. What once required a desktop computer at an internet café is now available with a swipe and a tap, and it's little surprise to see now that an ever-growing majority of Facebook's 1 billion+ user base is now logging in via a smartphone or tablet. One annoyance with the official iOS Facebook app, is the inability to copy text on the News Feed. There are a variety of reasons that one may want to copy information from the feed, such as for the benefit of navigation, and thanks to perhaps the most obviously-named tweak 'Enable Copy text in Facebook app', one now can.
