As most of you will have gleaned, BlackBerry is a struggling brand just now, and the decision of the Canadian company to roll its prized BBM out to Android and iOS was seen by many as a sign of its desperation. In October, we learned that BBM for Android and iPhone was would also, at some point, offer free voice calls to other users of the app, but despite the confirmation BlackBerry's VP Andrew Bocking on its imminent arrival, it looks as though we won't be getting the feature until early on next year.

Earlier on this month, the Olloclip team came through with a new 3-in-1 macro lens for the iPhone 5 and 5s, and as impressed as we were with the design and features once again, we were a bit bummed that the iPhone 5c had been left out. However, it hasn't taken long for a new, colorful 5c version to make its appearance, and with the same great, enhancing features as the corresponding version for the aluminum handsets, you can still produce some marvelous shots.
Apple's OS X Mavericks was first announced back at this year's WWDC, and although it hasn't really brought any earth-moving changes, it has somewhat enhanced the desktop operating system from last year's Mountain Lion. Having rolled out very recently, work as been ongoing with regards to changes and improvements, and today, Apple has seeded the first OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks beta to developers.
Apple's iPhone is often cloned and bootlegged in nations such as China, but rarely does Japan get in on the act. One company, recognizing just how popular the latest and greatest iPhone 5c has been so far in Japan, has taken advantage of the situation by delivering a smartphone that, despite appearing fairly similar to its Cupertino-designed adversary, does the colorful handset a gross disservice with a bunch of crummy specs.
Grand Theft Auto 5 may have released all the way back in September now, but following an extremely successful launch, the holiday gifts just keep on coming from Rockstar Games, publisher of the all-conquering series. Having just pushed a massive update to GTA Online for those on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Rockstar has come through with another treat for mobile gamers in the form of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Android. The title, which is widely regarded as one of the best of the entire series, made its way to iOS just last week, and has finally landed at the Google Play Store. More details can be found after the break!
Last week, developer Zeptolab released a teaser trailer of its eagerly anticipated Cut the Rope 2 release, and now, for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users at least, it has finally made its way to the App Store. An Android version is somewhat uncertain, and the developers claim to be an iOS exclusive, but if history has taught us anything, then the Android version should bear fruit next year, in the meanwhile, if you've been waiting for your next fix of this candy-swinging adventure and just so happen to own an iOS device, early Christmas presents don't get much better than this!
GTA Online, after the initial blip at launch, seems to have gone down well with purchasers of Grand Theft Auto 5 on both sides of the PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 divide. Last week, we brought you the news that GTA 5 Online was going to be getting quite a significant update, and today, Rockstar Games has commenced the process of rolling it out. The highlight here is the new Capture mode, which, as Rockstar describes, is "a GTA twist on classic capture the flag style confrontations," and if you've been looking forward to playing some CTF on GTA, now you can!
Screen protectors make a whole lot of sense. You buy a shiny new smartphone, unbox it, and already, the value is slowly creeping down. You buy a decent case to protect it from the daily wear-and-tear that digital hardware seems so attracted to, and the screen protector, you hope and pray, will stop the display from getting scratched or worn. But putting a screen protector on throws up all sorts of caveats. Dust seems to begin appearing just as soon as you slide away the cellophane, hitting both your device's just-polished display and the screen protector itself. If you've found yourself frustrated by the incessant bobbles of a failed screen protector application session, help is, thankfully, at hand.
Pebble App Store Releasing In Coming Months; A One-Stop Hub For All Your Smartwatch Related Goodness
Pebble's smartwatch, which made a name for itself after becoming one of the most successful Kickstarter projects of all time, has certainly started something significant in the digital world. Its introduction and apparent popularity has since prompted other companies, like Samsung with the Galaxy Gear, to try their own hand at building and releasing a smartwatch, but like the very few owners of the Gear, Pebble users have found it rather difficult to keep their wrist-worn gizmo fresh with content. Sure, it's out there, but not in much of an organized manner, and as such, it looks like a proper, concise app store - or appstore as they’re calling it - will be hitting the scene for Pebble owners in the near future.
It's always nice, on special occasions, to send messages, photos, videos and greetings to those we care about, and although there are plenty of ways you can go about doing this - particularly in the Digital Age - a new iOS app by the name of TimeAppsule aims to put its own spin on proceedings. You sign up for your account, which takes a couple of seconds, and from there, you can plan your digital gifts to your friends and relatives up to a year in advance and keep them safely locked in the TimeAppsule (Geddit?) before sending.
