The newly updated 13-inch MacBook Air, complete with a Retina display, is a pretty great machine if you want to get your hands on the cheapest modern Mac that Apple sells.
It’s not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but everything is relative, and it’s cheap for a 2018 refresh. Right now you can save an extra $200, making it much more palatable, too.
The configuration in question is the 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 model with 128GB of storage, but there are a couple more to choose from, too. The MacBook Air doesn’t have a whole lot of configuration options to choose from, and all models have the same CPU no matter how much you spend.
Which model is right for you will depend on the storage option and color of your choice, but we’re big fans of the Space Gray everything these days, so if you can live with the 128GB of SSD storage that particular model has to offer, we think that’s the one we’d opt for. If, of course, the extra storage is what you’re here for, it’s a straight up battle between Silver and Gold. We’ll let you decide which of the two you’re the keenest on.
The Retina MacBook Air is the first MacBook Air refresh that we have seen in a while, and it brings some much needed updates to the line, not least that Retina display after years of subjecting buyers to poor displays in the previous models.
