Apple has updated its consumer-facing website to promote an array of its products and services in preparation for the festive shopping period. The recently published Apple gift guide on Apple’s website comes attached with the tagline “From one gift come many”, and looks to assist in recommending a specific product for an individual based on their interests and passions. “No matter who you’re shopping for this holiday, you’re sure to find a great gift”. That is if you’re looking for one directly through Apple’s online store.
The extremely visual new part of the website features minimal accompanying text, instead preferring to rely on full-screen product imagery to do the talking for it. The artwork showcases the new Apple TV connected to a HD television set with the Siri remote laid next to it. There’s also a gold colored iPhone 6s Plus, a beautiful gold iPad Pro sitting on top of the packaging it ships with, an Apple Watch Sport with an accompanying red colored band, and a face-down iPhone adored in one of Apple’s PRODUCT(RED) silicon cases. It’s clearly a case of put your best foot forward and promote the best of what you have to offer.
The website also has quick call-to-action options that enable users to get a gift recommendation based on a chosen interest or passion. For example, the main descriptive text has links underneath it titled “Gaming”, “Photography”, “Music”, Fitness”, “Learning”, and “Travel”.
Selecting one of those options drills down to a specifically created page that uses the same visual style to highlight a number of Apple products that fall into the chosen category. In the case of “Fitness” for example, Apple shows off the Apple Watch Sport alongside a pair of Beats Powerbeats2 in-ear buds. There’s also a plug for the Strava mobile app and the Wahoo Fitness KICKR SNAP Bike Trainer accessory.
If health and fitness isn’t your area of interest, and doesn’t appeal to the individual you may be purchasing for, then how about gaming? The dedicated gaming section immediately shows off the Apple TV, the SteelSeries Nimbus Bluetooth controller, and the Guitar Hero Live redesigned guitar. Apple has also introduced a shipping offer to coincide with this recommendation feature, offering free shipping in the United States, Canada, and Europe during the holiday period.
