Apple has released a second new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2, a refreshed pair of wireless earbuds that have only been on sale for a couple of months.
The new version of the AirPods Pro 2 firmware carries the version number 5A377 and while we don’t yet know what changes it brings with it, it’s fair to say that we can expect performance improvements and bug fixes.
There’s also no way to manually update your AirPods Pro 2, just like normal AirPods and AirPods Max. Instead, putting the earbuds into their charging case and connecting it to power while paired to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac should be enough to get the process moving.
You might not be able to force the firmware update manually, but you can at least check which version of the software your own AirPods Pro 2 are running.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on an iPhone that’s connected to your AirPods Pro 2.
Step 2: Tap General.
Step 3: Tap About.
Step 4: Tap AirPods.
You’ll be able to see the firmware version listed right there.
Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 went on sale on September 23 just a week after the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max and alongside the Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch Ultra.
