Apple Offering Free Next-Day Shipping For Christmas

Christmas shoppers looking to pick up something from Apple’s online store are in luck, with the Cupertino outfit offering free next day shipping on all in-stock products.

Free Shipping 2

Last-minute shoppers need not worry too much about getting their gifts delivered in time, with Apple offering to ship anything that it carries in stock, meaning that built-to-order Macs are out of the equation as are engraved iPods and iPads. Apple has also removed the iPhone 4S from the shipping offers due to the fact they just can’t get them in stock long enough to guarantee delivery before Christmas.

The deadline to place an order that qualifies for free next day delivery is tomorrow, 21st of December, so you still have time to get that last gift ordered before Santa needs to take it off to the lucky recipient.

Apple’s holiday sales are set to be even more impressive than usual, both online and in their brick and mortar stores. Strong iPhone 4S sales – before the cut-off online – as well as continuing strong demand for the iPad 2 will no doubt see bumper sales for Apple this quarter.

While offering free delivery from its online store may seem a little odd over Christmas – how many MacBook Pros or iMacs will be given as gifts? – the move is probably aimed squarely at Amazon, who of course has its infamous Amazon Prime system. By removing the cost of delivery, Apple may find that it becomes the destination for shoppers looking for less expensive items like headphones and docks, rather than acting as a shop window for people to browse in and then order from Amazon.

At least, we suspect that was the plan in Cupertino. We will find out in the next earnings call whether everything went to plan, or not.

So, if you have that last gift to order then now is the time to do it while giving Tim Cook even more money to swim in this holiday season. Go on, you know you want to!
