Amazon Refreshes Kindle Oasis With Adjustable Display Temperature, Better Refresh Rate

When it comes to reading ebooks, the best way to do it is undoubtedly via one of Amazon’s Kindles. The Kindle Oasis is perhaps the best of the bunch depending on your needs, and Amazon has today improved it yet again.

The new Oasis uses the same internals as the one that it is replacing for the most part. That means there’s a 7-inch display that offers a 300ppi density that makes reading super-easy. There are also physical buttons for turning pages, which isn’t something all of the other Kindles can offer.

Where things get interesting is the new ability to adjust the temperature of the display, making it easier to read at different times of the day and in different ambient lights. You can take complete control of that screen temperature, or you can leave it to the Kindle Oasis to change it automatically.

Beyond that, the other thing to note here is the new generation of E-ink technology. Amazon says we can expect an improved refresh rate here, allowing for faster page turns. Those page turns have historically been the thing that has been the biggest complaint of Kindle users, so it’s good to see it being improved here.

Other features the Oasis boasts include IPX8 weather resistance, which is perfect for use around the pool or at the beach, along with Bluetooth support for listening to books via Audible.

The new Kindle Oasis is priced at the same $250 as the previous one, getting you an 8GB model. If you need more storage, $280 gets you 32GB to play with.
