AirPods Pro Repair / Replacement Cost Increased: Now $89 Per Earbud Or Wireless Charging Case

If you’re picking up a shiny new pair of AirPods Pro earbuds you’re probably going to want to add AppleCare+ to that order, too. That’s because if you need to get a replacement earbud, or even a replacement Wireless Charging Case, you’re going to be $89 out of pocket.

That’s the case if you go for a repair rather than a replacement, too.

What makes that particularly interesting is the fact that replacing all three components – two earbuds and the case – will set you back more money than it would take to buy a whole new set of AirPods Pro off the shelf. If that isn’t madness, we’re not really sure what is.

Of course, that means that AppleCare+ is probably a very good option with AirPods Pro. You pay $29 upfront and then another $29 should you need to make a claim. That seems like a pretty good deal considering the alternatives, so that’s the suggestion we’d make.

Every set of AirPods, Beats earphones, or Beats headphones comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary tech support. AppleCare+ extends your coverage to two years from your AppleCare+ purchase date and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a service fee of $29, plus applicable tax. In addition, you’ll get 24/7 priority access to Apple experts via chat or phone.

The good news? If you need to get a battery service on AirPods Pro it’ll cost the same amount of money as the standard AirPods. That means $49 per earbud and $49 for the Wireless Charging Case.
