Apple announced yesterday that it would hold a September 9 special event dubbed “Surprise and Shine,” while sharing an image of the Apple logo appearing to be in the glare of the sun.
But it’s now thought that the logo may offer a hint at upcoming iPhone 18 Pro features.

MacRumors reports that a number of people have suggested that the logo could be a wink at what is to come from Apple’s big iPhone event.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that the shining light of the logo may hint at a new “mechanical aperture on the iPhone 18 Pro Max.” Such a thing has been rumored since as far back as 2024, but is as yet unconfirmed by Apple.
The use of a mechanical, variable lens would allow for more control over the depth of field of resulting photos in a similar way to how a traditional DSLR camera works.

Gurman also believes that the sky blue color of the event invitation may hint at a new iPhone 18 Pro color. Light Blue has been claimed as a potential new color for the premium iPhones.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during the September 9 event. The day is also expected to see Apple announce its first foldable phone, the iPhone Ultra, as well as two new Apple Watches.
