WhatsApp Plus Launches On iPhone With Custom Themes And More

WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app, has launched its WhatsApp Plus subscription service on the iPhone following a period of beta testing.

The new subscription plan brings features that are aimed at the WhatsApp power user and others who spend a lot of time in the app, talking to their friends and family.

One aspect of WhatsApp Plus is customization, with users able to choose premium sticker packs and full-screen animations as well as 18 different accent colors that change the way the app looks. A further 14 alternate app icons are also available for people who like their apps to match a particular aesthetic on their Home Screen.

Other features include support for a larger pinned chat limit of 20, as well as 10 new ringtones.

All of this comes under the WhatsApp Plus subscription, which costs €2.49 per month in Europe and $29 in Mexico. It’s unclear how much the subscription will cost in other parts of the world. We do know that there will be a trial available, with WhatsApp offering a one-week or one-month free taster, depending on your location.

If you don’t see the option to upgrade to WhatsApp Plus yet, don’t worry. It’s currently still only available to a limited subset of the user base, but is expected to be rolled out to more people in the next few weeks.
