You Can Now Play GTA Vice City In Your Web Browser

As the world waits for Rockstar Games to release GTA 6, there is thankfully no shortage of great games for you to play while you wait. But if you want to get that GTA feeling right now, you can play the original GTA Vice City game right from your computer’s web browser.

To be more accurate, you can actually play the demo for GTA Vice City right now, but you can play the full game if you have the required files to hand.

The game also supports all of the features you’d get if you played elsewhere as well as support for touch controls and gamepads. Local and cloud saves are also supported, too.

This is all available via the DOS Zone website, thanks to the open source community.

The open-source implementation of the classic GTA engine, known as reVC, is now running directly in the browser. On DOS.Zone, you can explore a technology demo that showcases how this iconic game behaves in a modern web environment.

The website says that the engine has been reworked and adapted to ensure that it works as smoothly as possible via the web browser. Everything from the way the game is rendered to how the audio is handled has been worked on to ensure a “native performance without native installation.”
