A former Apple Watch engineer has been accused of stealing trade secrets and handing it over to hundreds of Oppo employees.
The news comes after MacRumors picked up an Apple court filing. In August, Apple accused Chen Shi of stealing Apple Watch secrets before making them available to Oppo.

The two companies have been in court since, with Apple arguing that Oppo has been withholding information. The Chinese company says that there were no trade secrets shared.
Apple found out that Shi had given hundreds of people a presentation on its sensor technology as well as its future product plans. It’s alleged that internal Oppo documents promoted Shi’s talk as a way for engineers to learn more about how its sensors work.
Internal Oppo communications promoted an “Apple Sensors” talk with Shi, titled “Apple’s Sensor Hardware R&D Philosophy and Methodology.” A tagline for the meeting said “Are you curious about how Apple’s sensors are developed?”

Shi is accused of sharing slides that were taken from materials that were taken from Apple, while Oppo is also accused of encouraging the sharing of secret information.
Apple also claims that Oppo has not been forthcoming with documentation and forensic evidence that would help it understand more about the extent of any theft.
Before leaving Apple, Shi downloaded more than 60 files from Apple’s online Box account and transferred them to a USB drive. It’s also claimed that he then searched for information on how he could avoid being caught.
